I noticed in some missions in MW5 you drop right next to enemy units, i.e. you literally step off the dropship and start getting shot. I called these Hot Drops because, you know, the drop zone was hot.

I'm wondering, would anybody want to see Hot Drops in MWO? Same maps, same play modes, the teams would just drop within two hundred meters of each other or something. It would be an instant action blood bath, for sure, and favor brawler builds over others, of course, but it would certainly mix things up. They'd pop up randomly to keep you on your toes and wouldn't be very common.

I'm guessing there are connection/game-loading reasons everyone drops so far away, but if those weren't an issue, would you want to see Hot Drops?

Hot drops happen in faction play sometimes, usually when the reds are all up in your base.

lets make sure dropship weaponry is enabled too. sounds good to me.

I'd be for some closer drop points to the other sides team on some of the larger maps but nothing that puts you directly under fire as there is way too much alpha out there for that.

Sounds fantastic, the assaults don't have to wait to get left behind in the nascar because a piranha has just spawned right behind them already.

I wonder if there is a reason almost every single online game starts with opposing teams outside of effective range of each other.

The way this game works hot dropping is terrible.. By the time you can move and shoo.....

Yeah, that was kind of what I was thinking. It would be cool if you had the right build and everyone could come online at the same time, but in practice it would probably suck. I just hate spending half the fight walking on some maps. The classic maps have a lot less of that, so I guess that's sort of a compromise. I tend to build brawlers, so it sounded good to me, lol.
