[Gotta Go]

Hello all,
When the map/Mode screen comes up I have noticed I tend to pick what mode I want to play and then decide on map. My logic is I try avoid certain maps, think Incursion(?) map, then try to pick map that would work best with my mode choice. For instance I like playing Conquest on Polar Highlands, large map with room to move around as I generally play mechs with long range weapons.

Just curious how others select Map and Mode.

Well, I would say it is like this:

1) When I am running some specialized build (short-range brawler, for my example), then my priority is to avoid some map(s) (Polar Highlands or Alpine Peaks) in favor of desired maps (Solaris City).

2) When I am running some universal build (that can work on any map), then I concentrate on voting to get the preferred game mode.

Agreed. Some mechs avoid certain maps like the plague... LRMs on Solaris, AC/20's on Polar Highlands...

I usually play generalist builds until I've racked up a x4 multiplier or more, and only THEN will i switch to a specialist like my 2xSNPPC+AC/20 Warhammer. Because dropping on Polar Highlands with that fellow is not the most fun...

Most of the time I don't choose map or mode, I just let the match happen. Makes me work harder for my ms if I end up running a sub-optimal build for the map and/or mode, but that works for me.

Meh. I pick the map, then the mode, then do as best I can. Ideally, you'd be able to pick your 'mech AFTER the map and mode, so you could bring a load out best suited for your map.

Neither it should be random and we get no choice.. It somewhat stops the same map over and over.

That would be a problem for new players who lack a wide selection of 'Mechs.

Imagine that Solaris City is selected. All veteran players pick their 'Mechs with massive short ranged alphas. A new player deploys in his only 'Mech.

Isn't the current system better? Everybody (both a green player and a MWO veteran) deploys in his pre-selected 'Mech and must utilize it as good as he can.

I pick the mode
Then depending on which one is in front with a few seconds to spare...
I pick the map that best suits that mode.
