I just saw the "new player starter packs" being advertised. Assuming it doesn't take significantly more time to model an assault mech than a light, what possible reason could PGI have for charging more for the larger mechs? Everything else about the packs is the same This just seems like a terrible way of exploiting someone's ignorance since a bigger mech is not necessarily easier to play or win with than a smaller mech.
*end rant*

Enough folk believe it is to be worth the price differential.

You are right:

1. UrbanMech is not a typical (light) 'Mech.

2. Sparky is a mediocre design.

3. Yes, Black Widow is good.

4. Sleipnir is good, if you know how to play Assaults. Many new players do not and die early in the game.

And for $60 one can buy entire new PC game.

That has always been MWO's pricing, right or wrong, so it's consistent with the rest of their store. You can sort of argue that the cbill cost does go up as tonnage goes up.

New Player Packs are great for all the perks, and you essentially get your Hero mech for free.

You get at competitive prices:
~3,000 MC (so that you do not need to buy that 25,000 MC giant package for best prices),
~Premium Time (so that you do not need to buy that 12-month Premium Time giant package for best prices),
~100 GSP (helps new players and returning players, or just use it to skill up your favorite mech!)
~6.5 Million CBills, which really helps you to switch (expensive) Engine, Weapons, etc.
~Total +10% CBills cockpit hanging/standing items for IS mechs, which has never been sold at such prices!

And you get your Hero mech thrown in for free.

Think of it this way, and you'll find that it's good value!

(And if you wish only for Hero mech, there are lots of Hero mech sale for MC each year).
