So I'm about halfway through skilling up my Dire Wolf and I'm still having problems loving it.

It's not fast and it tends to get chopped to pieces by lights.. I can't find a weapon set that really works and if it's not the lights it's the constant LRM rain.

I love my Mad Cats so would you recommend sticking with the Dire Wolf or looking at another Assault?

It is a matter of having the right loadout and using the right tactic.

I do not think that LRMs are the right loadout for the Daishi.

You can stick with the Daishi, if you already have it, but I suggest rearming it with Autocannons.

Okay for combos of 4 or 5 ballistics. 2xLB20 + 2xLB10 is okay. 2xUAC10 + 3UAC5 fits I think. 2xLB20 +2xUAC10 works. Some more options with clan standard ACs now as well.

Never really enjoyed it much, but it's not awful. Don't try and join the nascar, pick your own lines.

I actually even bought one back later once I got an idea for a load out after the recent weapons balance pass.

Generally I agree, but selling a 'Mech should be the last option because:
1. You will not get the cost of the 'Mech back
2. You can never know if some quirks pass or new weapon will "improve" the 'Mech.

I have sold quite a few mechs that didn't work for me.

I had a similar experience. I sold a 'Mech that did not suit me from some reason, even though everybody agreed that it was great 'Mech.

When the Direwolf gets a buff to mobility in the next patch and you like it enough than you can always buy it again.

Good idea.

  • Never sell mechs
  • Mobility and quirk patch updates still to come

DWF is not easy to play. Just slap a solid build on it - Dakka, Laser or Gauss/Laser and go to town.

For new players it is not so easy to just sell one 'Mech and to buy other one. Especially if we are talking about costly Clan Assault 'Mechs.

Only Dires I ever thought of getting are ECM and Hero simply because speed.

What do you like about Timber Wolf, maybe those qualities are what you should look for in other Mechs.

Fat, slow, broad easy to target hit boxes, high priority target, favorite treat of lights, and usually left behind in a nascar.

oh, convince you to keep it? Uh.....it has a neat name?

Don't sell it, its mobility is going to get buffed.

It's not the easiest mech to play but it can be devastating, it just needs to have devastating loadouts.

2 GR, 2 ERLL, 6 ERML, (Can be done on all Prime omni-pods)
Same as above, but 2 LPL 4 ERML
2 UAC10, 3-4UAC5

You can play with an S side torso and put 2 LPLs up there, and then 2 Gauss and 6 ERML in the arms.

Just make sure you make the shots count and you should be able to shoo the light away. Except for the dumb ones, then they'll sacrifice it all just to ruin your match and then get one shot by someone else. They are kind of annoying like that.

I agree with everyone who say you should wait. It will be better soon. I also heard conspiracy theories about it getting resized in future no so far away from now, but that may be just a speculation.

Anyway, keep it for now i say.

The box is difficult to play effectively but wipes the floor with people once it clicks. Don't sell it for reasons already described, but keep it in your pocket - If you do group drops/Faction play it'll be a lot easier to make it work as you'll have people who you can trust to support you.

As for loadouts - Dakka, Laservomit, Gaussvomit (this one slaps hard), 8AC2 if you've got the Ultraviolet.

Bruh.
Boat all the autocannons.
The smaller the better.
You can have 4lbx10's and so many lasers that one alpha will core just about any mech.
6 lbx 5's or 8 lbx2's are hilarious.

It is downright awful at the moment. Wait until the mobility patch. You won't gain speed to not be left behind by nascar but you'll be able to twist off damage better. This mech is all about position and convincing team to rally on you. You will NEVER be able to move yourself to rally.
