Can you give some clarification here? Legit trying to understand the precise nature of your complaint. The absurdity that even middling players are shoved upward into tier 1 has been known and mocked for years (no offense intended, I have worse stats than you) so I am just trying to understand what is setting you off now.

May be he is being sarcastic... The funny thing is he posted JUST his May Stats, not his overall stats.. how many will miss that part, and it is the lowest scoring month he has on record. He is currently ranked 2344 (default adjusted MS Score and at 94% percentile w/1.42 W/L ratio and overall Adjusted Score of 283.1

Of course, his complaint may be he should have dropped to Tier 2 but with a positive W/L Ratio, he would likely need a lower MS score

Now lets see how many he is able to drag into this thread....

Looks like another satisfied customer of the Soup Queue. Checked Jarls and you were T1/T2 percentages until last two months. Then, lots of bad play experiences. Not sure why you put in so many games last month. Except for the first weekend of the month (and the month long event, which could be completed in about 50 games), every other one was devoid of a challenge, or a decent one.

Enjoy your vacation, I started mine after my April experience.

Actually Grus, it is no longer such. They updated the PSR system a while ago.

True that. What is funny is that my main here is bouncing between Tier 2 and 3 while my alt with fewer and non-RL cash purchased mechs bounces between Tier 2 and Tier 1. It tends to be a competition playing the two

It requires less match score to stay in Tier 1 than it does to climb into it. That much should be obvious from how the system was designed. Once your bar is capped, you only need to average Yellow Bars to stay there.

The long and short of the problem is and will continue to be that it's a relative ranking among players. If the vast majority of MWO players are not typical gamers, people who come into the game from other shooters or with PvP gaming experience in general are going to perform disproportionately well. Like OP, me being in Tier 1 (let alone the top 5%) is an absolute joke.

On top of that, an upper limit on PSR was always going to cause compression at the top. If I'm in the top 2,000 players and my PSR bar is capped, that means all 2,000 of us are being treated identically by the MM and that's just absurd.

How long ago was 'a while ago'? cause it feels the same to me from couple years ago for quickplay at least. MM tends to push me towards a 40% complete loss, (4 or less to 12) 40% complete win (12 to 4 or less) and 20% close/hard fights. Which in turn tends to slightly favor a steady increase in PSR, making it feel pretty much like a Xp or 'time played' bar.

(Note these are pretty arbitrary numbers, essentially 'guestimations' and not based on hard numbers.)

Come on, we all know that anyone with a serious chip on their shoulder or anyone badly losing a discussion on the forum considers it a measure of a player's worth. It's not, of course, its just a component in a marginally acceptable matchmaker system, but people are always checking players' stats as if to validate them. So "ranking system", "matchmaker", "PSR"... all interchangeable and relatively non-functional concepts. I use the term with a sprinkling of sarcasm.

The "PSR bar = Experience bar" was changed in July 2020. Since then it has been more based on skill.

I know exactly how the OP feels. The changes the beloved Cauldron has brought us simply do not fit my playstyle and so far I have been unable to adapt. And dont tell me I will eventually drop to an appropriate Tier, no way I will stick around long enough for that to happen at the glacially slow pace I am dropping. I need to be Tier reset. Too much long range, too much Alpha, too much scared/passive play now in Tier 1 for me.
