A little lost here.
Where is the in-game link/function to download the latest patch?
Is there a way to patch the game if it is run 'offline' for a stand alone campaign?

Does a person have to make a request to PGI for the recent patch, or is there an external direct download link for the patch?

The patch will be apllied automatically for all "Launcher based" versions with the exception (i guess) of the GoG.com standalone installation where GoG would offer a update file to download after a little while for the respective game via their download function.

I think I may have screwed up because I disabled the 'launcher' and video to speed up loading of the game.

According to this, version 284 will correct the issue.

Is there any way to download version 284 without the launcher?

My guess is that there is no way to update the game without launcher if the installation was initially launcher based and the only source offering stand alone updates would be Gog.com...

I relented and reinstalled the game leaving the launcher and videos in place (slowing down loading of the game), and it installed the 284 version at that time.

I guess that even if you wish to play offline, they still prefer that you are online.
