The August Patch is here, including HPG Manifold Reborn, the first Quirk Pass on select 'Mechs, Weapon Changes, Equipment Changes and more!

Look for our fourth major map update with Caustic Valley and more coming in September!

As with everything, these updates are subject to further balance changes in the future, especially as more variables are brought into the equation with future updates and changes.

'MECH QUIRK PASS 1

This patch includes the first Quirk Pass for a number of 'Mechs. As with everything, these updates are subject to further balance changes in the future, especially as more variables are brought into the equation with future updates and changes. List includes quirks that are added to the existing list of quirks or replacing existing values on the following mechs:


Locust

All Variants:

  • Added -50% Overheat damage


LCT-1V:

  • Increased Energy Cooldown to -40%

WEAPONS ADJUSTMENTS
As a continuation of our assessment of weapon performance since April, the following change has been made:

Clan Large Pulse laser:
  • Heat penalty multiplier increased to 4 (from 3)

This patch includes an increase in C-LPL heat penalty. This is mainly done to address the current situation where firing 4x C-LPLs are proving to be almost consequence-free when compared to the damage output potential.


EQUIPMENT ADJUSTMENTS

ECM
Currently, one of the shortcomings of ECM is its minimal effect (in terms of enemy radar detection range) versus its tonnage cost. To compensate for such a small effect, Mechs often need to spend a large number of skill nodes in order to bring their ECM to a baseline functionality. Considering the fact that mechs with ECM often get fewer performance enhancing quirks, this is particularly punishing to new players who choose their first ECM mech with no skill nodes unlocked. To improve upon this issue, this patch is shifting a portion of the ECM performance from the skill tree to the base stats of the ECM module.

ECM (Clan and IS):
  • Enemy radar range reduction increased to 50% (from 30%)

Skill Tree: Enhanced ECM Nodes
  • Enemy radar range reduction decreased to 12.5% (from 22.5%)


ENGINES
This patch includes a fix to the XL100 engine weight in order to make it consistent with the rest of the engine line up and with MWO mech construction rule set.

XL 100 Engine (Clan and IS):
  • Weight decreased to -0.5 tons (from 0.5)


MECH DEFAULT LOADOUT ADJUSTMENTS
This patch unlocks the fixed active probe on the Mist Lynx OmniMech. This change brings about more possible pod space on this chassis to allow it to utilize its hardpoints in a much better way.

Mist Lynx (All Variants):
  • Clan active probe is now unlocked and can be removed from head component


GAMEPLAY ADJUSTMENTS

Missile Hardpoint Doors
Missile doors in MechWarrior Online are one of the unique features only available on a limited number of mechs. Missile doors, when closed, offer extra durability in their associated components by providing a received damage reduction effect (currently 20%). While this is an interesting and useful feature, it’s implementation leaves quite a bit to be desired. Currently, closed missile doors introduce a long firing delay between every trigger press. This often creates confusion (mostly for new players) and has a detrimental effect on gameplay especially when used with short and medium ranged missiles, or cases when losing missile locks can be imminent. A workaround to eliminate this delay is currently opening the doors manually which turns off the damage reduction effect, and in some cases can give away your mech’s position through extended geometry.

In order to make this feature better suited to its purpose, this patch is eliminating the firing delay for missile doors. The missiles will fire immediately after trigger press and doors will open right away, and stay open for a second, before going back to a closed state. This will maintain the doors protective properties while eliminating the detrimental effect from gameplay. It is noted that during the limited time the doors are open when missiles are being fired, protective effects will be off, before doors are closed again.

The following mechs are affected by this change:
Stalker - Archer - Catapult - Dervish - Hellspawn - Kintaro

Changes:
  • Missile door firing delay changed to 0.0 (from 0.5)
  • Missile doors now stay open for 1.25 seconds after firing (from currently ~4 seconds on different mechs)


Faction Play Conquest Mode
  • Faction Play Conquest mode max score increased to 1750 (from 1250)


KNOWN ISSUES
  • We are aware of a few small visual/graphical glitches on the new HPG Manifold. These should not affect gameplay and will be fixed ASAP.

Aside from allowing you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, on another connection, there are no additional benefits to performing the patch this way; the patching process itself will be the same.

This direct patch download process will only work for players running the standalone client. It does not apply to players running MWO through Steam.

Man, these map reworks are getting kinda ridiculous. Canyon and Polar were bad enough (the original design was arguably "natural", but the redesign is beyond artificial), but HPG looks beyond ridiculous. You've got ramps to the top of what are ostensibly defensive walls? And I can't tell, but it kinda looks like the dish has been moved to the edge of the map and quadrupled in size... Maybe that's just the angle of the screenshots, though. One change I would have enjoyed seeing, though, is having the map borders extended to fully encompass the entire installation, so you could go all the way around the outside and get into those two empty outside areas that divide the two different "outsides".

Considering it's a redesigned map as opposed to a brand new map, I don't really see that happening in the future.

Wow. All those quirk changes... and they're all buffs in one form or another. Most look like they make the existing quirks more generic, so you can take advantage of them with a wider variety of loadouts. A number of structure quirks being changed to armour too. I'll have to take a closer look, but at a glance I'm already getting a few ideas for new loadouts.

Also, I'm glad to finally see the HPG redo. I've never understood why the "ComStar Racetrack" was so popular. That said. when you're making changes as significant as you have to HPG and Polar, I wish you would just rename them rather than call them "reborn" since they're essentially a completely new map using the same set of assets. Also, I'd like to see some of the "classic" versions return to the rotation, since there has been such a limited selection of maps for years.

Not great, only IS fanboys will love this.
Why cant you dear devs give the clan mechs give atleast -5% heat quirks and the very energyreliant -10% heatquirks?
For example all Supernovas -10% heat except Boiler and A variant -5% heat
But all IS has -10% heat quirk, they needed this cuz one IS large laser has almost medium laser heat , IS medium lasers have smal laser heat and smal lasers almost not generating heat after the previous patch, so buff them more.
Hurray!!! But we have brand new overheat damage reduction quirks on clan side, this is so good that all IS will burst out in crying and immediatly want this over the -10%heat quirks.
Cant we trade it this new quirk with IS -10%heat quirk, because this is so good that we cant have it.

Please tell me that what you really meant was: We have all the games sources and assets in a version control system that has an off-site backup and we tagged the current version.

As opposed to "I have an canyon_old, canyon_water, canyon_new, canyon_snow folder laying around on two different thumb drives"

What I'm wondering is how the +36 CT armor for all Atlases work, because my AS7-D already gets +37 Front CT armor, adding 36 to that is insane, that's an atlas with nearly 200 CT armor.

The AS7-D has +28 before skill tree. They are changing it to +36.

Your AS7-D actually has +28 CT armor, and the survival nodes you have are responsible for bringing it up to 37. So now you will start at +36 CT armor and your nodes will bring it up to +46 or something.
