DISCLAIMER: My English is not that great, so sorry for any mistakes.

As the topic name suggests, i wanna know what's our Community Manager doing? Don't get me wrong, Daeron is a nice guy and all, but you are not getting paid for being a "nice guy".
Why do i get the new info about the course of the game development and the new upcoming stuff from everyhwere BUT from community manager? You literally need to search for info, i get some from justcallmeASH's discord, some from NGNG something from Cauldron's members in various Discords, BUT not from the official site. Daeron just hops into his friend's stream to talk and as a "by the way guys" talks about the future course of MWO and the upcoming stuff for a complete HOUR of his time. But i guess it's impossible to make announcment on the main page with a few main points of that hour talk, and let ALL the people know what's up. Instead i just sit for some time, watching Sean's video, trying to find main points of the hour talk, to translate them and tell my non-English speaking friends what's new, or post in the russian segment of the forum to let people know. You announce a screenshot contest with Forum and Twitter winners. It takes you 5 DAYS, 5555555 after the stated date to post the winners on Twitter. Where did the Dev VLOGs vanished? Last one was in APRIL. Now it's mid-August already.

I was assured by various Cauldron members, that PGI reads everything on forums and considers the feedback. SO i want to get an explanation, because maybe, there is another point of view that i don't see and this is all a big misunderstanding.

I mean tbh it feels a bit odd to go “where is our community manager” the day after he talks about MWO’s future on a well known community podcast.

I mean, kinda? But going on NGNG seems like him doing the absolute minimum to make it look like he's doing something to communicate to me.

I dig the new pack and I'm not particularly down on MWO right now. But considering the fanfare, his tenure as Community Manager has been a dud communication-wise. It feels like he may be helping accomplish stuff behind the scenes, but I feel like he should be communicating it a lot more.

Agreed would be nice if they actually did the vlogs like they said they would.

But also it's not like there aren't going to eventually be official communications about everything he talked about (well, those that come to fruition), it's called patch notes and roadmaps.

While its fine for those of us who are invested in the community, its not for the people who aren't and even just not being in the right circles. A good example of this is that while Phil did post on OHPG he didn't post on r/mwo.

This doesn't even factor in that there is information that PGI isn't even giving out like that one of the mechs in the next quirk pass is the Shadowhawk so don't just get rid of the currently mediocre mech you get from the event. I only know this because I'm in justcallme ASH's discord and a Cauldron member posted about it.

It's a problem that our community manager has a conflict of interests with NGNGTV and us. He could post the news easily and quickly on the forums, where it would reach a greater number of MWO players, but instead he releases news through a third party to direct business to that third party. I personally don't like it.

Not everybody wants to listen to NGNG. Or to podcasts in general. Would be nice if we could get a summary of any such communications on the official forum, if for no other reason than because folks like our Russian buddy who started this thread could find it and translate it without having to sit through seventeen hours of progressively-drunker nonsense.

Yeah I was content knowing stuff was getting done. I tend to be understanding of people getting busy, because I know what working under pressure is like, and sometimes that prevents you from doing the things you want to. I also get that his job right now is not only MWO Community Manager.

to be fair (to both sides)

god knows what else he is doing for PGI; I don't know him personally, but
a) I highly suspect PGI keeps him busy
b.) he seems like the kinda guy who'd engage with the community, given opportunity.

on the other hand ofc: job description of a community manager is quite clear, and whatever else he's busy with, a few words every few days like "guys, I'm busy, but you're gonna be stoked about what's coming next. more on that next week" .. that is typed in a matter of seconds to minutes. so that shouldn't be too hard to do.

in the end: yeah, there's a bit of blame to be shoved around - but shove it to PGI itself, imho. like comstar, they work in very mysterious ways.

Well, it seems he is working many hours a day in jobs not necessarly associated with community management but other PGI and MW games related tasks.

I thought w0qj was a community manager, he sure performs like one. In some respects better than the green named ones.

90%+ sure that there is no conflict of interest here. He's totally onboard with the company line.

Now you just have to ask yourself if you can believe anything PGI says. They have a long history of broken promises, half-truths and "alternative interpretations".

I miss their old CM going quite a ways back.....Snow.... that's not it....ummm.....Damn can't remember . Had a nice crew of Forum mods that were his special pets and they would threaten everyone with bans and "discipline".

Short answer...with some very very few exceptions it always was this way...and until the upper echelons of PGI essentially got flung out of reddit even that hole was a better source of info than the mwo forums Posted Image

I've got to agree with the OP, we get our news from everywhere except the official game forum, which is a terrible state of affairs.
