Damage Type Events Modification

We've been going through the 5,000 damage of each specific type of weapon (and other variations of it in the past) and it does tend to steer people to doing single weapon type mechs to complete them. I know you can get them done just playing mixed loadouts, but more or less there is a decent percentage of the player base that will try for one weapon type to complete each one.

Just to mix things up now and then (it's fine to have the 5k damage events but it is becoming sort of maintstay and you want to keep things a little fresh), PGI can add a 'mixed damage' event type where your total damage counts as long as you deal that damage using 2 more different damage types.

As an example, a future event could look like:
  • Deal 2,000 Ballistic damage
  • Deal 2,000 Missile damage
  • Deal 2,000 Laser damage
  • Deal 10,000 damage in matches where you use at least two different damage types (Ballistic+Missile, Missile+Laser, Laser+Ballistic). Your total damage combined will count for this event as long as you deal damage from two or more types.
You can take it a step further and make another category where it requires all 3 damage types though I imagine this is a step too far and is even more restrictive to playstyle and fun compared to just using 1 or 2 types of damage.


You can also add some other events for more variety (in small doses to avoid player frustration) like the following:
  • Deal 20/50/100 damage to an ECM mech using any type of PPC (just pair it with an LRM/missile event to get the ecm mechs out).
  • Survive or Win 1/3/5 matches with Beagle Active Probe/AMS equipped on your mech.
  • Hit 5 mechs with NARC.
  • Deal 200 damage with Gauss Rifles or ER PPCs to targets beyond optimal range.
  • Deal 200 damage while moving over 100kph/120kph/130kph
At the end of the day this is just a few things that can be tossed in the rotation/cycle of events to keep things from becoming too bland. I'm sure people can think of other things that won't make QP too crazy. You can do mixed damage one month, single damage the next and then all three types in one match once every quarter or six months, etc.

Cause right now I got my LRM80/90, Laservomit Hellbringer and 4xLB10x/MKII Dakka mechs pretty much set for events so it'd be nice to change those up a little.
