Typically large parts of british columbia are not choked by wildfire smoke and then flooded under water in the course of a few short months. Its fair to say what they're experiencing right now is pretty unprecedented. Even if the waters recede, repairing the washed out roads wont be a quick process.
I'm hoping everyone out there can stay safe.

Except it's not winter. It's Fall.
didnt you hear, canada has four seasons. they are: winter, winter, winter, and construction.
we have something similar here in alaska. however we do not always get the construction. because every time we ask the federal government to chip in for our infrastructure, say to build a bridge between our major point of entry and its airport, the politicians use it as a political bargaining chip and we get a big fat no. they will however pay for a bridge if its for caribou or moose.
anyway sorry if im offending anyone or taking away from the vancouverian plight, the way our federal government screws over our great state is a hot button issue for me.

Yea, it's November and we just got 4 tornado's in a single day. (it's never happened this late were i am) I dunno what to say if people have yet to catch on that there is something way off with the weather. Perhaps when class 6's start rolling people might get the point. If it takes till 2050 i'll be shocked.

I read that over 2 billion dollars worth of trade goes through BC to the rest of Canada every week, so losing all the highways right now is a massive loss

Heh... You got to pointing it out before I did. I wonder why people start extra Threads like this without taking proper stock of what's around? Perhaps they don't look anywhere else other than the General Discussion Board area, even though there is so much more which they could experience and enjoy?
Any which way, one thing is for certain... I hope that everyone working on MWO up there at PGI is doing well and remains safe from this weather overload mess. None of us should lose those which we're happy to have around.

I hope your roads in & out of Vancouver will all get restored soon, and also hope that the weather mess which you're having will not leave much of a permanent impact! Humans are not meant to be trapped in one place forever, and I prefer other humans happy because they're able to move around, without exception. Weather should never be allowed to lock anyone away from the world... no "if"s, "and"s, or "but"s about it.

That reminds me... What happened with that Cicada Brood X which there was news about at one point? Have they gone dormant again, or are they causing mayhem that is making everyone unable to get anywhere close, or what?
...and now I'll scoot because I'm hearing my Mech Bay Techs calling for me... Argh... What did they do with my Mechs this time? I hope it's not a complaint about the few which I haven't configured yet...

Where I am seems largely unaffected due to the configuration of the great lakes, but the snowfall has been occasionally massive. This evening's highlight was watching a 4x4 try to overtake a lorry and plow for 40 minutes, only to have the lorry be the one to lose its patience and overtake the plow metres before the divided highway marker. I really ought to get my dashcam sorted out again because the sh** I see is unreal.
