I'm returning to Mechwarrior Online after 2 years, just to see how my new computer handles it.

I want to see the return of Quick Play drops in more than 4 pilots, like how it used to be, like how the community event which promoted such group-up measures encouraged in the first place.

I want to play with my old team again for our annual Christmas Crabs group drop, wherein we drop with nothing but Crabs like we used to do.

I'm sitting in a Discord in a chat channel of 9 people for our annual Christmas Crabs drop with MercStar...ready to go.

And we can't achieve this because we can't drop in more than 4 people in a single Quickplay group.

Dare I ask why? Dare I encourage PGI or whoever owns this game nowadays to restore this, knowing full-well the response I'm going to get.

It's 2021, and the only way we can play together is if we drop separately and hope we get lucky. This does not bring people together and is not very encouraging.

Please, restore the ability to drop in an unfixed number of people in Quickplay - it doesn't break the game = it lets people PLAY the game with their friends. Isn't that the point?

PGI removed big groups from the Quick Play because it was actually breaking the game. I am sure that you remember that.

But do not worry, there is something designed specially for big groups: The game mode is called "Faction Play".

Only one QP queue unlike before you took a rest when there was the solo and group QP drops to supplement CW. Were the group QP to be reinstated then yes, totally agree with the 4+ team, but its not and 4 men groups can either dominate a drop or ruin it depending on whether the team plays seriously or has fun at the expense of the other players dropping on their side (so nice to watch 4 lights/mediums drop with grossly sub-optimal loadouts, who then proceed to run straight at the opposition with no consideration for cover etc., and be wiped out in 30s).

Ideally, CW/FP with a half decent match maker and more supportive players instead of seal hunters would be a blessing in getting the mode running again and enticing more players into what is the best mode in the game.

Could you explain to me how it was breaking the game?

The whole reason I installed this (beyond testing my new computer) was to play with friends, in the groups we enjoyed, only to discover that this isn't possible.

Although to your point, 4 people can dominate just as efficiently as a 12-man if they're skilled and coordinated enough. We've actually been doing well for ourselves with this latest holiday event, even without 12 of us together.
To your argument, though, were twelve friends playing together in a more relaxed atmosphere versus the 'competitive' map-specific mode detrimental to the player-base, or perhaps did it draw new players into the game and help retain numbers?

I have no motivation to play Faction Warfare anymore, given the length of time it takes to actually find a match. The spark for me is long gone, and I sold my soul to that mode for 4 years, three Battles of Tukayyid, Tharkad, and Luthien, and playing well past any sensible measure of getting enough sleep.

Obviously it was, considering that PGI removed the groups from the Solo queue in 2014 or so.

And how well it has worked in the Faction Play ... The Faction Play is filled with Solo players waiting to be pitted against 12-man premades, right?

Solo and Group queues were split in 2014. You have been playing MWO on and off since then.

So do not play surprised with your "... only to discover that this isn't possible."

Are you really telling me that there is no difference between the enemy team having coordinated 4-man group and 8 PUGs, and the entire team "being" 12-man coordinating premade group? Seriously?

So you do not want to play with your group the game mode mode specially designed for groups, but you would like to farm teams composed mostly of PUGs with your 12-man premade in the game mode that was designed predominatly with Solo players in mind.
