I don't know if this has been suggested before but, how about a map based on the Star Wars world Umbara? It is a dark world, no direct sunlight, and has plants that glow with phosphorescence. The ground usually has a low fog, which would cut down on visibility. You would have to use heat or maybe night vision. The plants would be pretty large. The ground would have ridges high enough to hide a small mech with hills here and there.

This would be a pretty open map.

I generally play a skirmisher, so open map plans are not my best, but I think the visuals, if done correctly, would be amazing!

Bioluminescent plants would indeed be cool. But I think light sources tax the game engine a bit, I know they do on Solaris city. So performance might not be as good on such a map.
