I suppose if the capacitor isn't holding a huge charge it would be safer from exploding or catching fire...

Kinda defeats the point of Gauss exploding on crit however, given the entire point of Gauss exploding on crit is because the charged cap's explode.

I remember when Gauss didn't require a charge in this game, and it was bad, usually you'd see dual ppc+gauss, or dual gauss+ppc snipers absolutely obliterating anything they looked at. I HATE the charge mechanic, but I get why it's here. We're sadly better off with it in place.

Since this seems to be only tangentially MWO-related, this thread was moved to Off Topic Discussions.

a weapon made by a guy in his basement isnt going to work the same way as a weapon made by the military industrial complex. military customers like their systems to be ready to fire once armed. as much as id like to see the charge removed, i can understand why its needed for balance purposes (especially with how op they were in mw4). would be cool if you had to trigger the weapon once to arm and a second time to fire, then have a little glow animation in the weapon model when its charged. if you were inclined to leave your gun charged, you would be telling the enemy where to shoot you, and only the charged weapon would explode. sort of like the people who bind their tag to a toggle switch. pro players would take advantage of this, and charge their gauss when they fire their ppcs, and then fire the gauss with a second tap.
