The BAS-E is my top Mech. 2 LBX20s and 4 SRM4s and a promise that it will absolutely destroy any mech in the game before it dies. It is the perfect definition of a brawler. The only reason I'm not playing it every game is that I'm having too much fun with my Nightstar 10-P with quad RAC2s.

I just need a way to get the firing rate up on the BAS-E. Maybe the 7.5% LBX cooldown quirk could go to 10%. :-)

I ended up getting a Dire Wolf Ultraviolet. I did this because of the unique CT missile hardpoint mostly. And I like to drive the Dire Wolf. It's the ultimate canon walking gunbag after all

Well, I got my Hero Mech and went with Mad Cat MK II - Deathstrike! Decked it out with 2x UAC20, 6x MPL, a few tons of ammo and as many heatsinks as I can squeeze onto it. Also juiced up the motor a slightly larger motor. Had pleny of C-Bills due to the event make sure I got all the parts I wanted for it.

Been using it and have had no regrets, though I do have to be careful as it can generate a lot of heat!

Pretty brawly, but I'm trying to spread out the playstyles and so far I've been liking that close/mid range combat. Really only use the long range missileboat play on my older laptop when I'm on lunch break at this point.

Just curious-How did you mount a 3rd UAC20 on the Direwolf UV? is that an omnipod swapout?

That's right. Just swap in one of the torso pieces that doesn't include jumpjets and you have enough slots on that side for the third UAC.

I got the Kodiak Spirit Bear for my alt account since all the assaults I have are the plodding 3/5 types. With the speed nodes and masc that mech can go 90KPH and still carry a UAC20 and 4SSRM6s with full armor. It is positively hysterical to move an assault mech that fast but still do some respectable damage.

If all you're considering is MC value, of course.
Which I def am lol. So I'll probably get the Rancor and cross it off the list. Won't have to save up that 8.4k MC.
And it's a pretty solid QP mech, lots of different loadouts for all that tonnage with some great wep mounts.

If MC is the main concern, the Ultraviolet is more expensive.

The thought of choosing the most expensive Hero was originally what I kept obsessing over. But I don't really play assaults and none of the heavy heroes interested me.

Instead I went with the Madcat MKII Deathstrike! I trusted the meta on this one and it paid off. Just because I don't have it and I know people sing its praises a lot.

Before redeeming it I bought a MCII-B to see how it plays. It gave my first positive experiences with assaults and autocannons. I loved its speed, how 2xUAC5 2xUAC10 feel to spam-fire, and profile. Having that chassis with twin AC10s and six energy hardpoints was what I was looking for.

Wish I could remove those goofy cylinders on top of the model.

Those relatively small cylinders are not so bad.

Imagine being stuck with both (empty) missile racks.

Hellspawn is at least a relatively small 'Mech. Mad Cat Mk. II is much larger.

FYI I finally decided on the Rancor.

For two reasons :-
1) It's the third most expensive Hero so I feel like I'm getting value for money; and
2) I intend to get the complete Blood Asp set so I might as well get the Rancor. I only have a complete Urbie set so far.

i wanted the kin wolf for its paint job, but the spirit bear won out for its better loadout capabilities. the gargles podspace problem has always been a build killer. even with stupid ammo quirks (though some missile ammo quirks would help).

i am having fun with the Battlemaster HellSlinger to be honest (2 SN-PPC, 1 MRM-10, 1 MRM-30 build (did the odd split to keep that big target box down). its the closest thing to a "Brawler" that i play. not to mention that wondrous paint job

I feel quite ashamed to admit that I turned my Rancor into ... a Lurm Monster. 6 LRM15s, a TAG and TC3 all chain-firing a rain of death and regret.

But it feels so gooood...

Abominations aside, why the relatively hefty investment into a TC? Your weapons almost get no benefit from it.

I think that you should replace Targeting Computer with Clan Active Probe.
