to be fair i think copyright terms need to be shortened to their original length. the point was not to allow companies to milk ips long after their original creators are dead and buried, but to give a period in which the original creator could make a living off of the thing.

disney are the biggest hypocrites. their whole business model (since walt was in charge) has been regurgitating public domain works while refusing to contribute to it themselves.

There is much abuse of copyright but on both sides user and creator.

And afaik originally copyrights were not as long as today but the media/movie/music/etc. industry lobbies for practially infinite copyrights and i think it was Jane Fonda already way back rumbling from somthing like "infinite minus 1 day" which is forever till armageddon and simply ********.

Well, armageddon may happen soon but the copyrights will not become more public domain friendly when there are riches to be made from converting public domain into copyrighted IPs...
