Nick (A,B,C,D) why ?

I sometimes see it on players in the game.

Opponents are given letter codes so that you can easily reference them when speaking to players on your team. "Target the Atlas!" is not helpful, for example, if there are two Atlases on the enemy team. And nicknames are often not easily pronounced.

If you listen to people using the in-game VOIP, you will here people saying things like, "Target Hotel!", which means that fire should be concentrated on the opponent assigned the (H) tag ("hotel" being the NATO phonetic alphabet word for the letter H).

Ideally, you'd call out the alphabetical designator and the chassis. "Target Hotel, Atlas, CT open" for example.
