That's weird, the last few nights mediums have been in the 40%+ range when I log in, actually had to blow the dust of my Death's Knell for a few matches or I wasn't going to get a drop.

This happens now and again. Lights will get spotlighted in some of the streamers vids then everyone wants to jump on the bandwagon. It fades pretty fast when people figure out they are not auto win even in groups and that only the better players can make them consistently perform.

Those queue percentages fluctuate a great deal in my experience, so a screenshot of a single instant showing 8% doesn't mean anything. Im pretty sure i could get screenshots showing single digit % queue values for every weight class if i tried.

My experience in matches is that there are plenty of mediums running about. Its pretty much a meme that the last mech standing is a Shadow Cat half the time. Shadow Hawks, Cicadas, Huntsmen, VEagles, Hunchies of both stripes and Phoenix Hawks are all also very common sights.

To be honest, when playing solo, Mediums are my go to class. Fast enough to deal with unpredictable team movements, enough firepower to hurt things without having to get into leg humping range. The only lights i ever play are the ones that play more like mediums (Panther, Adder, that type of thing), and even then pretty much only as a low tonnage option in a drop deck.

Right now there are more Assaults than normal, for obvious reasons, but generally i dont have a problem at all with weight class distribution. (I mean, i dont have a problem with lots of assaults either, just means more hitpoints on the table to damage)

Mediums are a bit like Cruisers in World of Warships. They're a good middle ground in most respects but die or are crippled extremely easily, especially vs snipers. At least with light mechs you can weave around and maybe get lucky with a good score, while not having to walk around like you've got weights tied to your ankles.

Medium mechs tend to be the new recon as many light pilots tend to stay arounf the group.

Your mini atlas also tanks (well vanishes) almost as much damage as a regular atlas so that checks out.

i do not much care for mediums myself. i just have a lot of them with no games on them. or at least i did, im down to 2 dervishes and 2 hellspawns with less than 20 games. whether i revisit them or not depends on their numbers.
