WHY IS ONE ARM OF THIS MACHINE SHORT?

Because it has only one laser in it and that laser is placed in the upper position?

Yes, I've prepared a large laser build, but why is the arm short when it has a laser on it?

I don't know.

I don't know.

On many 'Mechs you have no control over what weapon goes into what slot. Obviously, on this particular 'Mech the upper energy slot has priority.

PGI has programmed the game this way.

It's the Dao Breaker.
The two "long" slots on its right arm and the one on the left are reserved for the ballistic hardpoints. It's ugly, but it's the way this particular variant works.

Looks like that arm is for plugging in USBs.

...You can run 5 on it though. It's probably better to run 5 and take advantage of the HSL.

Yes, I hope they will do an art pass on this configuration so it doesn't look so weird.

Well, it's easier when the slots are not reserved for a different weapon type.

Yes, but it can be gently scripted.
On some mechs its scripted to forbid the heavy weapon being popped by a ligh one.
On KDK-3 AC-20 cannot be popped by a MG, if I am not mistaken.
And in the latest patch beam weapons on Cicada will prefer the top hardpoints.

RFL-5D is not so popular yet to be scripted Posted Image

Yeah sure, but it's all about different slot types. I don't think they can configure an arm slot for example to be populated by either an AC or a laser if only one of each is present. The ballistic slots of the Dao Breaker will always go into the long barrels on the right arm and the upper in the left, while the lasers will take the upper, snubby ones and the lower respectively.

Yep, in the Dao Breaker case it is impossible.
Tho, to fix the TATAMBABY's issue the main laser barrel can be shortened. On many mechs laser barrels are short and drowned into hitbox.
For example side torso energy hardpoints on Cougar. CERLL is drowned, but CERPPC barrel is big like that and incresing the hitbox size.

My goal is to arm each of my machines in a useful way and achieve a visually appealing setup.

Unfortunately yes. Huge side silhouette. Think Timberwolf "ears" style.
