This right here is EXACTLY the reason I've given up on anything CW/FW/FP cold turkey. And it would take an exorbitantly high payment of In-Game Currency & Cockpit Items from rewards to get me touching it again. Nobody with their head really in the game wants to be stuck playing for an extended period alongside bad people; those who simply reject communication & coordination unto complete suffering for anyone actually trying to do well. Being forced to die & lose in CW/FW/FP because one's own Team fails at getting their act together, particularly when that person is never in a position to connect with any Unit at all, and when such a person gives it everything they have to contribute? It should not end up penalizing someone who actually tried to play properly, and will drive anyone away from CW/FW/FP without fail every single time.
And for anyone's reference, this kind of issue with CW/FW/FP actually cost me the health I needed for playing MWO entirely at one point. I'm not giving out details for too many reasons, including MWO CoC disallowing, but never again will I allow that cost to myself.

I'm not saying that I'm praising this Total War Event, but I wish that this event had flare like the Battle of Wazan. Granted, the Battle of Wazan was its own thing, but it morphed into a Community event of its own. To me, this Total War Event has no substance to keep me going or to entice me to play it. Sure, you have free mechs and MC, but these type of FP events can be so much more if PGI tapped into the source material or did faction rivalries to where we could defend well-known planets and get salvaged enemy mechs as a reward.
I'd love it if we had FP events like: FP Rivalry Event: "House Marik vs House Steiner - Marik Forces are attempting to take Hesperus II's Defiance Industries' Plants!" or FP Rivalry Event: "House Davion vs House Kurita - House Kurita is planning to retake Kentares!". I'm not looking for a return to CW, but at least a fun event that ties into BT lore or a fun little planetary event. To simply put, I wish we could have a FP Event that made us feel the joy of being in CW again like the Battle of Wazan, because no amount of MC or Free Mechs will ever talk me into playing the Total War FP event, no matter how promising it may be.

It means that while you’re whining on the forum, people keep playing FP.
To support your position (that there are many players playing FP now), you provided a screenshot showing that only one (!) FP match took place in 57 (!) minutes?
You understand that this screenshot is an argument in my favor, right? This is the second time in a row, by the way.
Who taught you how to argue?
And I repeat, watch your words.

I agree it is a great Graphic!
That's not merely a great graphic, it's one for which the author seriously deserves public credit unless they asked to remain anonymous.
Further, it also has apparently generated a series of desires among other players. Some want a larger version of the image, probably without the text on it, and likely for wallpaper. Some apparently want "Pitch Fork" & "Farmer Hat" Bolt-Ons to show off with their Mechs during normal gameplay, and probably the ability to get more than one. Perhaps these are things where MWO can gain more player interest? (Maybe that one Santa Hat from a couple holiday times back could become recolorable as well?)
I'm even left wondering why this newer item didn't switch in for that first image (the one with that CW/FP/FW Map section shown) within MWO Portal and the Game Client's display of News Feed listings after Login has completed? That would have enabled some who use Steam (a group to which I am not part of) to see it better. (Also, I think it might be causing an error to get registered within "omicron.log" on every MechLab load sequence...)
And before I forget... There has been a recent trend of silently disappearing items lately... I had better just list this quick so I'm not being too verbose...
- Jenner IIC Prime In-Game Store Mech Portrait
(too long-standing, and registers errors in "omicron.log"...) - In-Game Images & Descriptions for SRM+Artemis ....... << Most Important One
(all sizes... 2, 4, & 6... both Clan & I.S. affected... and registers errors in "omicron.log"...) - Bolt-On Flag Standards for various Clans and back locations
(I'm not sure, but possibly some I.S. ones too?) - Website News connection for the Patch 1.4.314.0 Discussion
(manual dig now required... not fun)

By the way, good players are in event, so QP full of potato (overall 50-100 damage assaults) and terrible balanced, so FP may be even better for moment!

Awesome - go be miserable in Quick Play then. As if that game mode isn't exactly as you are describing. If you hate it so much we neither need nor want you to drop with us in Community Warfare.

I set myself the goal of completing all the challenges except the first one (10 000 match score). It took me 8 hours, an hour less than the minimum time estimate I initially gave.
In 8 hours, I achieved 4 700 match score, which is 47% of 10 000. So, completing the 10 000 match score task would have taken me about 16 hours. Previously, I had given a rough estimate of 15 hours.
PGI, thanks for the event!
P.S. Sometimes, even if you really want to pick on someone, it's better to remain silent. This significantly reduces the risk of losing face in front of people and making yourself look stupid. Especially if your opponent's calculations are backed by nine years of playing experienc

If only your incendiary mind was helpful to you here... Guess what, that Quick Play you think is as equally bad? It has one major upside. Unlike that entire painful CW/FP/FW thing where you're locked into a Match for an extended long-term battle, and must lose four Mechs to a rather bad Team before you can pop out for a whole new battle, which means a huge boat-load of your time gets wasted? The whole short Quick Play thing instead allows your escaping a bad Team very easily if they leave your single Mech to get blown out. Once you're downed in QP's domain of play, there is no being stuck having to suffer through three additional unwarranted knockouts and associated time waste, instead of the pain introduced by CW/FP/FW that keeps shoving itself down your throat. Plus there are many of us who simply don't have the time and/or situation to invest in that painful CW/FP/FW slug-fest which you're so crazy about defending, so the QP area makes an excellent choice. I'm literally invulnerable to what toxicity you're showing me here right now. Maybe for once I should laugh?

I bet you would see a resurgence if PGI just made it a permanent 12v12, 4 mech drop deck free for all. You can still pick a faction to grind rep/rewards, but open up tech to both sides. Whatever the current timeline is, at this point Clan tech was salvaged by IS factions so there you go, there's the "lore" reason.

Thanks for the advice.
Yes, of course, I was considering doing some other challenges. But I did the math.
Any mission for 5000 damage from weapon types (ballistics, energy, missiles), given my average results per match (1700-2300 damage), takes three to four matches (assuming I take all four mechs with the same weapon type in my drop deck).
So, it turns out I'll have to spend between nine and twelve battles on three different weapon types. That's between four and a half and six hours, assuming matches are found very quickly. But knowing the number of players during my play time, I can't believe the optimistic estimates I made earlier.
I'll probably try playing a few games. Just to remember what Faction Play is. And to revisit why it essentially died.
For me, it's more important to focus on the Trick or Treat 2025 event right now. I still need to get 16,000 match score and 10,000 damage.
Now, faction played started very fast in any time.Stop cry, just try.
Faction play is cool, escp siege mod.

Then it wouldn't be FACTION play....
