At this time in the Battletech Universe Davion and Steiner or part of The Federated Commonwealth. I was wondering in the two houses would want to hold to that ideal or to just go at it alone.

We know where the FedCom ends up. It's best if we end it now before the situation can get worse.

The Davions are asking because they know they are going to get hammered from all sides.

All depends on the CW feature and how it eventually works, yeah? Don't know if there'll be player run House command structures, enforced timeline appropriate treaties or if our CW targets will be pre-selected for us by the devs. If it's more EVEish, I kinda doubt Steiner and Davion will just join forces out of tradition. If it's more EVEish, all hell will break loose. Fun, gooey, pewpewpewie hell!!!

I doubt there will be enforced treaties, considering that would end up effectively reducing the number of factions in the game from 6 to 3 (FedCom, Kapetyn and FRR), as well as barring the FRR from participating in the CW model, since they have peace treaties and trade pacts with the LC and DC.

I think we're effectively going it alone. But I guess it'll depend on how they handle campaigns and such. I'm interested in seeing how our battles can shift borders, take worlds, etc.

We have the money, we could use their military... I'm a little bummed my fellow Lyrans aren't wanting to hold to the FedCom. At least till we do officially split! =P

That's what Mercenaries are for, except you don't let Mercenaries get their claws into the ruling line of your Great House. Plus, everyone knows Davion's gonna get dogpiled at the word "go," why would we want to tie ourselves to that? It's like painting a target on you.

I have heard that the Davion's are going to be the people Liao and Marik are going to be gunning for. But I have also heard the same things spoken by Kurita and Liao, about us. One less potential enemy is not a bad thing in my opinion, besides if things go belly up, its not like we would be in this union forever.

Liao is going for Davion, all out. They've got a decade of badly written Stackpole novels to avenge. Plus, they'll be a crap ally. The bland "good guy" faction always attracts scrubs.

What the... "badly written"?!

The time they(and every other source) cover was bad for Liao but Stackpole novels are the best novels for BT.

I'm still wondering why they're setting us in the past, and not having the Lyran Alliance return after the Commonwealth splits?
We're supposed to be in the age of the Word of Blake/Comstar schism that makes the past succession wars look like a ice cream socials.

Ah well, just here to support my favourite house in the Battletech Universe. Would rather be the LA instead of the LC, but it's a classic time in the Inner Sphere I reckon. I'd say I hope the game enforces the Commonwealth....otherwise what's the point of them doing it?

The only good BT novels are Wolves on the Border, Heir to the Dragon, and Exodus Road. Stackpole absolutely murders any degree of ambiguity and can't write dialogue to save his life. The worst part is he's not even CLOSE to the worst writer BT has employed. They were probably great when you were about 13 years old, but they absolutely don't hold up past that if you've developed more discerning senses in writing.

Well, as the Sarna March is technically part of the Lyran Commonwealth we're going against both realms.

Yeah, but we don't actually give a crap about it. Calling the Sarna March a gift was like a kid buying his brother a Nintendo game he wants to play himself for his brother's birthday.

I personally hope we get some glimpses of the Clans to focus our anger on, the rest can play among themselves all they want :)
