IMO we need the map real multiplayer,(merc corps and the ability to fight other corps over the univerise map) before we do the open beta/launch thing. Without something to fight/grind for the game feel a lil lack luster. i LOVE the combat, just think we need to be doing something for our merc corp as we play. opnions?

Everything takes time. Once they stabilise the game, add the 4th map and second game mode they're planning for launch, they can start focusing on fulfilling that. Right now, they need to perfect the core everything else is going to be based on. :D

While I would love to test that before the game hits Open status, there is an upside to keeping it shelved until post-Open.

Namely, there will be enough veterans available to make planetary control interesting.

Community Warfare has been delayed until a few months after launch.

No way they can put it in "before we do the open beta/launch thing" without delaying the game by months, and they have a deadline to meet (end of summer 2012)

the delay was a deliberate design decision. the product will be better for it. they all focus on the core game now, then they all focus on the meta game later.

Search function works well for this info.

No conquest at launch.

Also, merc corps only get to fight over a portion of the map. ie. The outer rim planets. Those who join factions get to fight over the goods. :P

Also, merc units fight for factions so any thought of your glorified unit taking over the universe simply won't happen.

Agreed, every game Ive seen that waits to develop this portion of the game, fails to ever truly flesh out the content. Especially where PvE content is involved, they spend so much time trying to keep pace with content consumption, re-balancing of skirmish matches(which I think is inhertily broken and unbalancable due to it being to scripted and predictable), blah, blah...that the part of the game thats most engaging, most dynamic and potentially most immersive is left to wither on the vine. Star Trek Online anyone?

As long as something like that shows up in the game I will be happy. I can wait for a bit.
