Hmm,

I seem to be at a crossroads do I buy a founders pack or not, here are some of the things running through my mind:)

Do I care about the founders tag.......No, a forum tag really:)

Do I care about a founders mech........No, none of the 4 mechs jump out at me as something I would want to play all the time to get the benefit.

Do I want to support a MW game.......Yes, if it was complete I would normal spend the 50-60 bucks to buy it. But given the chance I would demo it first before buying.

Is the game going to be a big massive PVP game only...... Not sure, if it's all just a big PVP death match game I
know I won't stick with it very long, either out of boredom or disgust.

Will F2P turn into "must spend X dollars a month" to even have a chance at surviving...... not sure, if it is I won't play long before disgust sets in.

Will it be fun......... God I hope so, but there has to be a storyline, something to keep my interest. as above mindless PVP won't cut it

Can I play as a clanner........... not sure if this is even possible, for example I am playing for a year and the clans show up. shortly after I can switch to a clan, what happens to the mech I have, my inventory, my C-bills etc. Will everyone switch to a clan for better mechs and equipment, I know there are people who will say NEVER, but if all your opponents have better tech and equipment how long before you have to switch. Not sure if I want to be a clanner but the option is a curiosity.

What are the mission requirements, will it just be numbers or also weight limit...... not sure but it does make a difference.

Is there PVE.............. not sure but it would be nice to have an option, especially after dealing with certain elements that always pop up in PVP

Will there be salvage after a mission......... not sure, would be nice for individual salvage after a mission though, not team loot that sucks for most. Great for guild leaders etc but not so much for everyone else.

Are there going to be single mech mission or is the minimum option 4vs4.......... Would be nice to have the option, even if it's say an add on to another mission. Example there is a attack defend mission House Steiner defending a planet from a merc company and while that is going on there is a side mission for a single mech to go in and take out / steal something. That would be fun :( personally I tend towards Stealth/Sniper options when given the chance.

I know some of these questions would require answers that may violate the NDA if you are in Beta, and that is not something I want people to do. No matter how much I might want to know the answer:)

Will I buy??? Still on the fence:)

Honestly, if you're on the fence, i'd get the 30$ package and try it. It gets you a month of premium once the game hits Open Beta, 40 dollars of in game currency (which I believe you can spend on more premium time), and instant beta access.

I got the 60$ pack, and even though none of the mechs I really want (Shadow Hawk, Wolverine, King Crab, Victor) have been announced yet/are unseen, I can say I do not regret my purchase at all. I have high hopes for MWO, and it's living up to them so far.

Not massive MMO; It's instanced match-based play. Later on we'll see the Community Warfare which adds persistent rewards/consequences to those matches, but it's still matches, not massive.

There is nothing to indicate it will be 'you must pay X dollars a month' to play/be competitive. Your mechs do not expire, you have them forever. There is nothing you need to re-purchase or upkeep with real-money.

Is it fun? I certainly think so.

clans? We have no idea if/how/when/*** Clans will be implemented. Everyone is still 'wait and see' mode regarding the clans.

Matches are even-numbered teams. They said in the tweetchat that 'matchmaking will start as simple tonnage and evolve to a sort of BV'.

PVE is something they're well aware of, but if it ever shows up it'll be a long way off.

There is no need to EVER salvage weapons/equipment since you can just buy whatever you want with C-bills.

There is no open world, so there isn't room to run a 'single mech mission' within a larger framework; You can certainly til lbe a sniper, you'll just be working as part of a team in a match-based gameplay.

Greetings all

I'm in a similar position as Toraxis "undecided" but the main issue I have is I don't get to play like alto of the younger guys. RL kinda sucks and gets in the way lol. (how inconvenient of it) I play WoT MMO atm and the problem is it can take forever to move up the tiers of tanks because of the way the credits and XP system works even with buying gold you can't progress very far without XP.

I guess I'll just have to hope I'll like the game and the feel of it by trying the beta.

MWO doesn't have tiers. Mechs can cost a lot of C-bills, though, but if you can't stand the grind then buying MC will give you some shortcuts. You can buy mechs off the shelf with MC, and you can buy premium time (bonus XP gained and C-bills gained) to lessen the grind and let you keep up with your fiends, even if you have to play less often.

I sugest going for the 30 dollar option, if you have a kick arse computer. Don't go for the legendary like I did, I have started to regret it. I paid for it before I know what kind of computer I would need, and was under the impression that I would be able to keep some of my upgrades. I had to spend nearly 800 just to get a system able to run the game in low settings. In all honesty I will still have to buy a quad core processer, and at least 4 more ram. Thus I would have to spend over 1000 dollars to play this game.

The only real advantage I will have over you is 50% more c-bills, for 3 months witch you get a lot every mission. As well as a starting mech, and a few thousand more MC. When the game hits open we will all have 0 c-bills, and 0 experience.

Story-line isn't really present. As RedShift said, it's mostly matches and it's intended for PvP. I was also thinking about buying but after learning this and seeing some other people play, not so sure. I like story and plot and persistent gaming environments, and while BattleTech is a great universe, Matchmaking really throws a dent in my hopes for the game.

WT* guys?? Who ever got anything sitting on the fence? Grab your balls, grunt like a man and jump in. There are plenty of people who can help you with specs, upgrades and tips. NO, you don't have to spend 1000$ to play this game, you spend 1000$ to play it in HD/3D SuperGodmode Ultra vision. There is plenty of great feedback from people with less than stellar systems. But you'll never know sitting on the fence debating over the price of what is equal to a tank of gas, Deluxe pizza or a night at the movies.

Ditto Aodr. I'm not a massive PvP fan in any game that I have played... the lure of MWO and the entire Battletech history/background is strong but, without some form of persistent framework in which to play, the thought of simply doing endless battles against other players rather puts me off. If anything could draw me away from my current onling game, the Battletech/MW universe would be it, but if it is currently restricted to player vs player then I think I will wait until it has (hopefully) developed further before I jump in. Heck, even if it is simply the facility to fight AI bots ('scuse the pun), that would be a step forward; after all, even Counterstrike had bots almost from the beginning.

I will watch the boards with interest to see what (if any) information regarding future expansion plans is trickled out by the devs :(

The sixty dollar pack gives you way more for your money than you will get spending sixty dollars later.

Well, I guess I will sleep on it:):(

oh and about the clanner thing, I don't have any plans to play a clanner unless I have too, I just want their tech:), Just not sure how they could bring in a separate faction, and how it would work if they did. Guess I have Horde and Alliance stuck in my brain, which I can't see as being workable in MWO.

Oh and I do how they stick to the no trading of funds thing. Earn through doing it yourself, don't be a tweak:)

Awhile there are some perks to buy a founder package. Have to question the developers credibility to make a multiplayer pvp. Particularly to piranha games development with multiplayer pvp Duke nukem forever.

So when MWO gets a commercial release I'll probably give it a go.

I completely agree, and you are not buying anything. You are donating to a company that is trying to bring you one heck of a title. If you do not want to kick out money that is fine. But if $30 bucks is going to ruin your budget, you may need to rethink what you are doing elsewhere. I live by the idea of "Step up or step out" and "Put your money where your mouth is".
