I can tell you from beta play this game is worth paying for.

As such, I suspect most players will eventually spend about sixty on the game, so do it now. You get a mech, and theoretically enough currency to buy about four extra mechs. The currency will also be needed to swap XP, something you are GOING to be doing.

Buy the sixty dollar level, get in now, get a free mech, and get premium account. If you simply cannot afford sixty, save up because the mech is worth it.

I already have PGI sending me e-mails telling me to buy Founders and there are adverts all over this site telling me to do the same.

I don't need a random internet poster telling me to do something that I've already decided against.

But thanks anyway.

God forbid you supported this game. Do you plan on paying ZERO money at launch as well?

I PLAN on spending $15 a month on this game, just like a subscription-based MMO.

But here, let me make an assumption and ask a loaded question about you:

Did you have to beg your step-dad for the $120 to be "Legendary"?

Guys, no need to start going down the path this is headed. Let people pay or not or whatever, its a personal choice and nobody needs to pressure someone or attempt to make them feel bad because they want to play the free aspect of the game. Leave it alone and move on FFS.

Actually I sold my GTX580 when I upgraded to my GTX680 and had a bunch of extra money in my paypal. FIrst I bought the 30 dollar one to try it out and liked it so much I paid 120. But I didn't ask you to pay 120 I just said it's worth paying something to support the game. And if you do it up front you get some snazzy stuff.

Thank you.

For me, it's not even that though. There are several reasons I'm not buying Founders: the final system requirements, UltimatePay's shady system, the unannounced business model.

I want MWO to succeed. But I'm not throwing money into something without having sufficient information beforehand. And right now, there's just insufficient information. PGI isn't providing much new information (when was the last Dev Blog posted*) and Founders aren't allowed to say anything because of the NDA.

And no number of fanboys shouting "BUY THIS GARME" will override the decision I've made.

*Edit: To answer my own question, the last Dev Blog that wasn't a "Weekly Review" or a wallpaper was July 16th, almost 6 weeks ago.

Didnt look like it honestly, looked a bit facetiously biting.

People are more than welcome to pay $0. I welcome our freeloader and empty wallet brothers with open arms.

The hordes of free players will be one of the things to keep this game afloat through sheer numbers; low retention, high influx, keeping the servers full of players and keeping the game populated, which makes it more interesting for the rest of us.

MWLL is a great game, but it's biggest problem is lack of players and active servers. Yes, it has a handful of good servers that are active sometimes, but it's never full of players all the time. MWO, by allowing people to play for free, will maintain a wide player base at all hours of the day.

I should have said "I just feel like it's worth paying something...." Clearly that's not what I said. I'll stand by my point though. Whole lot of people on the forums and on facebook whining whining whining and have no idea what's under the hood. I'm very passionate about mechwarrior and I've said this a few times, I think of it as a kickstarter campaign for a mech game. So I think anyone who ever loved MW2 should go ahead and buy in. For 30 dollars at least.

I vote to get rid of the term "freeloader" because honestly after launch you never know what people without a founders tag are spending or not spending their money on. Its like in WoT just because someone isnt driving a premium tank does not mean they are not paying for a premium subscription, something nobody but the user can see. So please drop it all ready and early.

I made a personal choice to buy it based off what I saw. However I understand why people have not and wont until they receive more information. Its like the stock market. Some people invest without looking at the prospectus and just have a gut feeling, others would like to have a little more security before making a decision that involves their money is all. Nothing more. Leave it at that and let people make their decisions.

You say that like it is bad thing, personally I think it is a good thing, means they are working hard!

And you feel those concerns aren't valid? Perhaps you could enlighten the uninformed about what, exactly, is "under the hood".

Except you can't because you're under a legally-binding non-disclosure agreement.

Sounds like a lot of people want more information before buying into a F2P game. Except they can't access the information until they buy into the F2P game.

The whining certainly sounds validated to me.

I was considering upgrading to the Legendary pack and I wanted to see what someone else's opinion was on their elite purchase. The OP was concise and informative. If I had not bought the elite pack already, I would be considering it based on that advice, since someone's experience with a product says a lot more than the ads do. I agree with everything except the idea that you'll be spending money swapping XP. I see little reason to ever do that.

The price breakdown is something like
$30 Basic comes with $10(guess) premium account time and $40 currency ($50 value?)
$60 Elite comes with $20 premium time, Founder mech, and $80 currency ($100 value? + Mech)
$120 Leg comes with $30 premium time, 4 F-mechs, and $80 currency ($110 value? + 4 Mechs)

They should have offered more premium time with the Legendary pack, in my opinion. Like three months more.

Honestly how long does it take to make a post to give a hint though.

To be fair to the devs Mini, its hard for them to make promises or predictions in an continuously changing environment that is closed beta. If someone told you officially something was true it may not be in 5-6 months from now. then after having been satisfied and made a decision many would be mad.

A lot of the people on here were already fans of the series, including myself, so if mechwarrior 5 would have come out, most people would have spent 60 odd dollars (sorry im **** with conversion im english), so there wasnt really question in buying the founders pack

You sure do complain a lot about how people choose to spend their money. Just because you're not willing to put down the money to get into the closed beta with little information doesn't mean you should begrudge people who are.

I can say that, at least for me, this game is worth at least $30, and the only Battletech game I've ever played was MechWarrior 4 and its expansions. It may not be for everyone, but it's really fun.
