DFA was always a skill with junmp jets ,Im sorry but Would rather not have Mechs falling from the sky, at least not from so high that they would become a crushed piece of steal or find itself in a hole in the ground, jump from dropship ,ok but keep it realistic
(yes i know its a game)
Dinosaurs ?????
I don't think hot drops are going to be in the game...

I like the idea of hot drops and emphasizing the difference between mechs with built in JJ's vs JJ-harnessed mechs. America's Army had missions where you start in a ship and parachute down, but it wouldn't even need to be that complex. Just have the assault team spawn in, mid-air. Then the units with jump jets can manually activate them and control their decent, while the harnessed mechs are on a automatic routine. (aka, they just drop straight down and the harness cushions their landing)
I feel like it wouldn't be very hard to implement, and it'd make the fanboys happy.

Heck, for all we know ~ hot drops could just be a kick money loading screen
Edit: Either way all i really want to do is shoot 'mechs. With or without the complications inbetween

Just wanted to note this before we get a bit carried away, I've heard plenty of people suggest that, since it's likely we'll be seeing some screenshots or videos from the Swayback's point of view, that we'll be getting hot drops in MWO. I, unfortunately, do not think this will be the case, not as a minimum viable product anyway.
I refer to Paul's comments,
Which basically means the Leopard interior will be rejigged into, what I would assume to mean, an ingame MechLab of sorts. What it also implies, is that there's less of a chance we'll be seeing hot drops in the game, more likely I would imagine we would start out on the battlefield already, possibly in a hangar or just outside a drop ship, and power up then.
I would love to see hot drops however once the game is mature and we do conquest or attack/defend scenarios. But I think we might need to temper our expectations that we'll be seeing each other and hot dropping into battle. I don't think we're quite there yet.

I don't think we have enough data to say either way yet.
Though I don't think the bays of a Leopard are appropriate for acting as a "mechlab", maybe a repair bay at most...
