Just to be clear I wasn't trying to be rude, biased or elitist.

I could not think of every single response for the poll so yeah I am sure whatever issue people have are valid. I believe the I have no mic is probably the most valid reason I left out ..horrible assumption on my part.

Hate people or have a speech/hearing issue I understand that as well.

Not wanting to install more software ...yup I get that ...if C3 is implented seemless like vivox product is in EQ2 there wont be a need to teamspeak.

Want to avoid the foul mouth and whiney dbags ....I have dropped channel and even exited the game from some really foul or rascist ones only alternative would be to leave the planet to get away from some of them.

Being told how to configure your mech ...wow so many people want to help or tell you something wont work so don't even try ...had to deal with those guys too ...they can *******.

The term noob, rookie, fish, pug ...whatever they fact is at one time we are all new to the game. Are you having fun? Are you learning better techniques? Are you going to rage quit?

There are many people who know how to play and they are perfectly fine playing there way. That is also fine I just wanted people to know there are so of us out here that like playing and meeting people of all walks of life and enjoying the game together.

Amen brother, hope I get to play on comms with you sometime. See ya ingame.

This poll is silly. All the options are basically saying "If you do not use voice comms, you are a noob, a jerk or both."
Maybe make a poll with fair options?
I do not use TS for this game because the things that are said on the forums and in game typing make me not want to type to those people let alone talk to them and hear their voices. I hope the community will improve and go back to the way it was earlier in closed Beta when everyone was polite and friendly, but there are way to many douches right now for me to want to join a TS server. I am content to type out commands and alerts until they get C3 working smoothly.

I will (and have) used voice chat for other games, but pretty much only with people I know. I'm sure there are some great people on here (probably more than in certain....other games I've played) and if I could guarantee it'd be all business, I'd probably be more on top of it. I almost certainly will, at some point, once I play with more people / more of my friends are on here. But honestly, I've gotten very tired of peoples' personal commentary in games, especially PUG games of all stripes.

I don't care who you are, what you think, and have no desire to listen to people whine. I'd rather guess, honestly, even if it means a loss.

This, I don't want to be internet buddy's. Most likely I won't like you anyway, Just want to play with above average players who handle business. Unless your humble and respectful, then we would get along great.(and not 15years old, or act like one)

i have teamspeak and use it sometimes. but i do believe that at the moment there are to many people just trying the game out and who are unwilling to join in conversations with people who are just going to tell them where to go to die. my experience has been that most guys don't want to be told what to do so everyone just seems to wander off in seperate directions because they like to think they know the best way to win the game. nine times out of ten they are wrong.

if you aren't going to talk or type thats ok but if you want to learn to win then listen and follow the guys who know what they're doing.

Where is the "I don't own a mic or headset" option?.

Hey if you want to buy me a decent mic...I found a nice little $50 one the other day...

Yeah right, you'll just pawn it for more MC points. We're on to your game... I got a decent Sennheiser offa Amazon for 20 bucks, and there are plenty of good'nuff headsets for 10-15 bucks. :P

What is a pug anyway?

Your thread, and post, lumps PUGs and genuine newbies into the same group and regards them all as some kind of freakish abomination. Your poll has none of the rational options I was expecting. I don't have some disease where I can't play with teams.

I don't use voice chat because I have neither the time to find a game with TS servers every single time I want to play, nor the inclination to use a headset if I won't be using it consistently. I don't hate people, it's just not my play style. It wouldn't take anything more than a built in comms system for the game that I could utilize whenever I felt like using a headset to play ( a headset which I don't yet own. ) It's not like PUGs are incapable of using voice chat, it's just, personally, not my style of playing.

It's too much trouble. By the time I find a dropship, it fills up, everyone finally finds the "ready"button and we start I could have finished a PUG. It's a pain in the hinder-region. I get double the games (or more) playing PUG.

What I'd like to see is a voice-chat option that automatically connects you with your team when the teams are selected. Then pre-mades or pick-up-groups both have voice chat option. It needs to be easy to use...not like trying to find a server IP to cut/paste in some drop-down on a program one is unfamiliar with.

A mike and an on/off switch...it needs to be that simple for the majority to use it.

I was hoping to get into a group of decent players myself. Trying to get into one of the who shall remain nameless groups turned out to be an incredibly HUGE waste of time. After several days of interrogation, being asked completely irrelevant questions I was informed quite abruptly that I was not a good fit for the team and locked out from making any reply like, "Oh, thanks for the interview." It came off feeling elitist to me. Maybe it was unintentional? I have no real way of knowing, simply relaying my perspective.

Now I am not coming down on that group, they seemed to be a decent sort but I personally dont care about Mechwarrior TT or whatever other diversions they are into, I just wanted to find a group who would play well with me. So far, without luck. While I am currently not ON teamspeak, I do have the software I just do not use it for many of the same reasons why others have already stated;

-Foul mouthed teens
-Foul mouthed adults
-Listening to rambling about someone's awsome new build
-Listening to rambling
-Being raged at for having a bad night or simply learning ropes
-Voice chat and still... no plan
-My voice is like a Sirens call, once you hear it you will stalk me
-I actually do loathe most people, because they are dumb and live in very small worlds
-Your music sucks. I hate hip hop. I hate it. Hate.
-You really lose some immersion when BILLY the 12 year old is hollering at you over the speakers
-Most I have ever dealt with in other games aren't funny. *shrugs* I am a tough audience.
-I play from midnight to early mornings sometimes, my roommates just wouldn't appreciate the chatter

The list can go on...

I got that you weren't trying to be rude - I just wanted to let you know that it's easy to come off that way on the internet. The entire lack of human interaction thing robs communication of its emotion denying us our normal empathetic reactions.

Now that I've wasted some big words on saying "I can't see your face or hear your voice so I don't know if you're mad or just sarcastic" I will say that I've generally had good experience on the beta TS servers. It's good fun and everyone understands how a team generally works so it's mostly smooth sailing. Plus as a benefit very few people run scouts or support machines which I prefer so no competition for that role!

In my case it's simple. Language.

I have three little kids and don't need to deal with that.

I have ran guilds in other games and met many good people that I am still friends with but you can't stop some people from being fools over voice chat.

Just dont have anyone to play with, just a friend who plays ocasionaly and is awaitting for the full game and we do use Teamspeak 3. teamspeak is lightweight and doesnt overload the bandwitdh or memory like some other voice chat programs and voice integrated programs do.

Because none of my team mates care about this game, and I'm not about to join a group of tight ***** who can't deal with my own personal brand of dickery.

I sometimes think of getting miked up to play MWO. I deffinetly see the tactical advantages... However several things cool my heels on trying.

1. I go in my living room and listen to my housemate "strategize" with others playing battlefield on Xbox.
2. I don't want to stop using my totally awesome AudioTechinca headphones. Maybe if there was a super discrete "NASA/JPL" style ear piece that I could wear while wearing my headphones over it.
3. Certain elements of this community have recently been turning me off. I have been in beta since may and during my more cynical moments I feel things are going to hell in a hand basket every minute. I try and tune this stuff out to my best abilities.
4. Other games I have played w/ miked up players ruins the immersion factor for me. I can think of several awesome tense matches in Heroes of Stalingrad that I personally found diminished as some nasal, chip munching 17 year old was telling us how we need to approach strategy. I am by no means saying that I don't have that effect on immersion myself... I probably do. Most of us prolly don't come off as "mechwarriors" while playing, and I know that I for sure don't
5. I can type incredibly fast

Don't get me wrong I really want to expand my team play experience and I have been thinkin of exploring this. Sometimes I have awesome pug drops where "what's the plan" before the match yields excellent teamwork... Other times not so much. I should say if any group is inclined to take on a mostly silent teammate who will take orders and loves being part of a well oiled machine I am 100% down. I may have been a gamer for 20 or so years but I have personal motivations/prejudices (addmittedly) stated above.

If you like voice comms then by all means use them.If you do not like voice comms thats fine to. I DO NOT use them anymore because of the foul crap that you have to listen to most of the time. I have a nice headset and mic combo laying on my desk waiting for c3 to get up and running so I can talk to my friends and have some fun like when we were in closed beta. Some of these " New age Mechwarriors" should learn a little respect for other people and learn to play as a team . We should not have to hear some kid yelling you #$@#$#%^$, your in my way or Hey *^$%&^^ you stole my kill. This community has a lot of fine players who will help you out when ever you need it, but it seems to me that we are seeing more and more Dummies showing their behinds more often.

MWO needs to integrate VOIP directly into the game and allow the player to choose via options if they want to use it or not.

I'm fine with third party software for playing with a Clan or the like, but with the way MWO is currently running, I'm not sure I want to run any program at the same time for the sake of performance loss.

Optimally MWO should create the match and assigns server/host bandwidth allotment through the match making application, including VOIP bandwidth. And then MWO automatically creates two VOIP channels, one for each team. If players decline to use VOIP, then the bandwidth adjusts accordingly, first to allow for game performance, then second to relinquish bandwidth back to the server's/host's unallocated bandwidth pool.

1) Installing the actual software is a pain.
2) English is a second or third language for most people.
3) I don't have a mike.
4) I see premade groups as a form of cheating.
