I think you guys are confused about something, your best is massing your regiments together, therefore you don't have a single best regiment.

The Kathil Uhlans would definitely be the best.

Started with:
A company or 2 of left overs from a trouble maker regiment.
a reinforced company of light mechs from a training cadre
and a battalion of militia.

fought off the elite death commando's from day one and then went off to sian to end the war against the Capellans.

what other regiment could do that with in months of being slapped together

And for everyone saying the 10th Lyran Guards. They are NOT a davion unit. they are a LYRAN unit. Hence the use of LYRAN in the name

The Guards get the glory but the Crucis Lancers are where the real soldiers serve. The Crucis Lancers have seen more combat in raids, planetary defense, and planetary assault then the Guards ever have. The Guards are iconic elite units and therefore are as much a prestigious appointment as a military one. The 7th Crucis Lancers in the 4th Succession War had probably seen more action then any two Guard units beside Delta Company. In the war of 3039, they fought off two DCMS regiments seriously mauling them until they were recalled. In the Fedcom Civil War, the 7th fought against Lyran Alliance forces on 3 planets at the same time! So everyone says Davion Guards, but as for me, I put my c-bills on fighting men and women, not awards and dress uniforms.

Sorry guys. Hands down the 1st Federated Suns Armored Cavalry. Best group of fighters I have had the honor of dropping and fighting alongside with.

Any of the Guard units or the 1st armored Cav. I might lean towards the 4th guards... or the Heavy guards because of the flexibility the heavy guards would have as tech improves. Good speed, mobility and firepower. The 10th Lyran was loyal to Victor which is probably why people mention them

Damn straight. The 4th Deneb Light Cavalry, "Eveline's Originals". You know that Operation Rat thing everyone loves to talk about? Sure Hanse set it in motion, but who did the legwork? That's right.

The shame of now being the Deneb Militia under the Republic stings something fierce.

I do love my Deneb Light Cav., but since we aren't dealing with combined arms, it makes it diffict for an RCT to compete. So I have to go with the 1st Robinson Rangers. They live in a constant hot zone of Kurita and Chaos March.

Just because there's a whole RCT on the books doesn't take away from the fact that one of the five regiments in there is pure mechs.

True, but the true strength of an RCT comes from combined arms and that is an aspect that is lacking in this particular incarnation of the universe. In terms of this game I don't think that it can be considered, although more universally speaking you are quite correct. The RCT is a very successful implementation of strategic organization and all units who fall under its auspices should definitely beat least considered to be amongst our finest.
