So I'm worndering if this will be a scripted duplicate of the battletech historical invasion or will player's actually be able to effect the outcome of the invasion? Similar to the way battle progressed in the old MechCommander League Starlance?

Supposedly this takes place in 3025, which means that the game would have to be running for (I think) 20 years before you see the clans pop up. I'm a bit rusty on my Mechwarrior lore.

I heard they changed it to 1 year before invasion, meaning that things can lead into clan mechs and equipment at a later date if desired. I for one welcome the chance to squash you freebirths!

Also from FAQ:
Q. Will MechWarrior® Online™ have co-operative gameplay?

A. This is something we wanted to implement, but right now we are going to focus on multiplayer only.

There is no single player part to this game.

It takes place 1038 from this year, therefore when released it will be 3049. Each day in game is one day in real life. Kind of, or quite like the way they did their in game updates on innerspherenews on twitter. If you haven't seen them then check it out, it'll make more sense.

Better let my good friend Anastasius Focht know you're coming. He's well-known for his hospitality.

I for one, cannot wait for the arrival of our Clanner friends. That is, I can't wait to stack 'em up like cordwood, and chop their mechs up for parts!

The clan invasion "begins" in August of 3049. So if the game is released in the summer then maybe a few months later the Clans come, and we get a new playable faction.

I am Star Colonel Gilliam Hall. What forces defend this thread?

Do be aware that in 3049, clan forces were still skirmishing in the periphery. The main invasion didn't happen till early 3050.
That said, I do hope to be able to play as a Ghost Bear Clansman upon the invasion proper. I hope there are players out there willing to join me an use Zel when fighting.

My brother gillian, you must venture forth to the caves of the 304th Assault Cluster.

Children of the Bear, hearken to my words: Be always vigilant. Learn for yourselves that which your forebears imparted So easily and freely; Demand of yourselves The foresight of Jorgensson And the courage of Tseng; Through them, we are strong. To them a debt is owed, Repaid through loyalty undying and Character unflinching.

Imagine it. Everyone is head deep in battle. Tens of thousands of players over all the servers gutting each other's mechs. At the moment your team thinks its triumphant, clan drop ships begin descending. Mechs emerge and tear the players to pieces with great ease.

Welcome to the clan invasion.
