Graphics - 8

Spectacular 'mech design and rendering. Maps are intricate and pleasing to look at, with changing weather and nice water. Weapon effects are sweet, especially ACs and Gauss, nice explosions and smoke. Cockpits are very detailed. Many graphical features are still yet to be implemented, i.e. DX11, destructible trees.

Sound - 8

Sound effects are top notch, especially Pulse Lasers, 'mech actuators/engines, missile impacts. AC sound is niiice, but I think it could be LOUDER. Super awesome computer voice is not implemented yet (this is -1 point until resolved :ph34r:). No music (needed?).

Gameplay - 6

'Mech movement/firing mechanics are spot-on, they feel better than any to date. Only 1 game mode, although quite fun. Lots of content, although still quite early into the game's life. Larger scheme of game - Faction Warfare - is not implemented yet. Much-needed tutorials beginning to be implemented. Due to the necessity for strong coordination & communication in matches, lopsided scores are very common. Lots of customization options - between chassis, variant, weapon & equipment loadout, special upgrades, and skins - the number of 'mech variations is huge. Additional updates will only add more options. Certain imbalances exist due to upcoming content and gameplay changes not being implemented yet.

Potential - 9

Tons of game-changing features and content are scheduled for upcoming updates, and they are just the tip of the iceberg in the greater scheme. There will be tons more 'mechs, maps, game modes, equipment, not to mention graphics, netcode, and balance tweaks with each patch. Balance issues, bug issues, and networking issues are all potentially resolved until we get the release product, and even then the lifespan of the game will bring more content. Within the frame of an online-only title, this game will kick 100-ton ***.

I was so excited to hear about this game and get accepted to BETA, I used to build Battletech sets and paint
all my Mechs myself, I've played all the other Mechwarrior games, and I was like a fat kid at a candy store
when I heard about this game!! Then it sucked. Still feels like Alpha testing to me, and its HUGELY lacking any sort of single player


I give it a 4 also, to answer the question for someone who wants to know how the GAME is. It's unfortunately still a test, not a game. You might want to consider that. All of your points are great points & they're also all things that PGI knows the community is concerned about. You've only made 6 posts on the forums, yet you were lucky enough to be handed a key. On May 31st, you started a topic stating that you "quit already" & whined about the lack of a single player campaign. So what was it about the game that gave you the impression it was SP? Does not the title tell you before you whine how stupid you'd be to think it's gonna be SP? If you "quit already" almost 5 months ago, then WTF are you still doing here? Why are you having troubles with your DHS if you "quit already"?!!!!!! You've made no efforts in almost 5 months to offer any contribution to the project except since this latest patch. So now you're back in the candy store whining like a little fat brat again. Maybe you should forget the candystore & just stick to being a fat kid. You actually seem pretty literate & potentially able to contribute positively to the project but if you're never going to do that, instead of ******** on it then go bug your parents for some Cheesy Poofs & Powdered Donut Pancake Surprise.

1. BETA!
2. well, try something other than putting a 195 XL engine into an Atlas just to fit more weapons in, you might reach the combat zone in Time :ph34r:
3. Online games like this DEMAND teamwork! deal with it or keep getting pugstomped.
4. Community Warfare is coming, there IS cooperation, thats why you get pugstomped that often, additional gamemodes are coming.
5. & 6. again, BETA!
7. try making friends instead of complaining, then you might see that those "All MC Mech´s" are the same ones you are able to purchase with C-Bills :)

- no offense, bro.. just sayin´ ..

now to MY point of view:
in current state: a Solid, Metalwreckin´ 8.5
it´s potential: OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAND!!!

Currently i would give it a 7 and i see potential for a 9.

Its simply the game i play the most bcs every other mmo became so boring, pvp outside of DAOC was allways meaningsless, this game makes your virtual life and death matter each combat and when community warfare is implemented it will become only better.

i put it between a 7 and 8... there are some problems but it is still closed beta so that is to be expected.
all in all it's a fun and engaging game/sim

A current problem who lower the "pre"-rating
are the hight rep-costs.
Thats a point they should go on before release.
It can't be, that only a win can cover the costs of playing a mech.
Or you would always fall back to play with trial-mechs to get your rep-costs done to get XP.

before the patch : 5 / 10

pro : easy to gind ( to easy as nonfounder/premium )
contra : devastating gamemechanics and to many disconnects

after the patch : 6 / 10 no founder .. 8 / 10 founder / premium

pro : very smooth gameplay now ( almost perfect ). no more disconnects
contra : no motivation for nonfounder/premium players because of the high repair costs

so all over a nice game.. and only balancing issues ( not talking about weapons since you counter this with skill )

( i want to point out that i dont care to grind.. but you cant grind atm. you have to play trial mechs to make money.. and be realistic thats no fun.. when they would add atleast that your achievements in the battle would bring you cbills.... okay.. but doing 800 damage gain 1k xp and getting 160k credits ... just to see your repair bill is 110k is just not correct.. the next match you lose same numbers and gaining 80k credits---and you will seet the same repair bill.. wow... quit game
oh and 1 more thing.. premium players should have benefits but this game shouldnt be treated like a monthly fee game.. and atm.. it is like that )

Great game, since it is still in beta I would have to give it 7.5, but with this new Patch I would think this will be going up. I just hope that they can add some more maps, and game mod's. The Graphics could really be change though, building damage shadows moving but like I said still in Beta looking forward to more updates.

1) Beta, not even Open
2) You're doing something wrong. I think that didn't even happen once in 3 months of playing
3) Until 2 Weeks ago I only played PUG and got a Win/Loss ratio of about 50%. You're either very unlucky, or exaggerating
4) No campaign: yes. Do you see a campaign in WoT, Galactica or the like? It's a PvP game...
5) The shadows of other mechs move, your shadow doesn't. It's because ATM the engine doesn't animate you own mech on your own screen. They are working on it (Beta).
6) They told us we'll get destroyable trees etc, but there have been mor pressing matters (see your point 1). Would you rather have them stomping Bugs or programm destroyable trees?
7) Well, I usually don't drive my Founder's Mechs, so do most others. There are no "MC Mechs", other than the new Hero Mech... and seriously, you really fear that?

I'll give the game an 8. Playing it for 3 months and am not even close to become bored. Yes it lacks content but it's so much fun now, imagine how much fun it'll be in the future!

very good game .... very easily made into a extremely awesome game. needs more content and thats coming. needs people to start realising this is a beta and it will eventually get better.

7 with potential to get to 10

I prefer not to rate a MMO, afterall they're all patch based. Plus this is still beta, but just to answer the question. 8

Fix netcode, optimization, bugs and it will be an 8. If Community warfare is well conceived and implemented it could be a 9.

It isn't fair to rate a BETA. But as a BETA it gets a 10. We've been waiting a long time for this.

Potential of the game and possibility 9-10

The Implementation of closed beta (alpha) and the rush to open beta (alpha...) Netcode, optimisations stability etc. and the general standard with which this testing has been conducted... 1/10

If this game manages to take off this is an object lesson to other devs on how NOT to test your game

I would rate the game an 8. MWO is a good game with fantastic potential that is supported by a great company consisting of folks who are fans of the series. As others have stated, the game still has bugs and is in need of content, yes, but the game is in Beta, although some impatient short bus riders forget that...no matter what definition of Beta they may find on the internet, MWO is still in a development and testing phase.

Aside from the need for more content, balance tweaks, optimizations, bug fixes, etc., I guess if were to bellyache about something I'd say that the Devs need to slow down and skip the rush for open beta and I feel that the mechlab/lobby screen needs an overhaul. Every time I see it, it reminds me of some sort of cheap 2D interface for a browser game. B)
