Use streaks, you don't even need to aim. Seriously though collisions were awful and rewarded bad players with a crutch. I had no problem killing moving lights pre-patch and I don't have any problem now.

I had the same reaction as the op first, but removing collisions really did just make streaks a necessity and oh boy are they mean. I'd like collisions to be back later on, but they shouldn't be anything like the way they were.

They'll be back when collisions are fixed. A person that tripped while they were circling you was bad anyways unless another fast mech tackled them. More often than not it was team mates that dropped you to your knees anyways.

I miss this one time, when I was in a Commando, I ran into the back of an enemy Centurion while I was strafing, and because I fell down at his feet when he turned to see what hit him he didn't see me on the floor, walking the dinosaur. There was much merriment. As soon as collisions can be fixed I'd love to see them return, it made playing light 'mechs such a blast!

Since I'm a fast heavy, some of my best moves involved falling down. So I don't really miss collisions much. However, now that they're gone, I've gotten this weird rubber banding sometimes when running into enemy mechs. It hasn't happened much, but tonight I had to just stop and turn to get this guy off of me. I guess we were running straight into each other and both popping back. It was the first time I've seen that.

"PUT COLLISIONS BACK IN"..... Yeah, those little "CANKER SORE" light Mechs just leg hump assaults...
I'm telling you an assault should be able to knock down a "CANKER SORE" light mech like an adult knocking over a 6 year old kid.
Even a medium should be able to trip a light mech, it would be like a Senior in High School punking a middle schooler, and seeing as how "CANKER SORE" lights are all the same size within each variant, then it makes sense...
.
#1. Commando = Squish
#2. Jenner = "hey don't take my lunch money!"..... Then Squish
.
It's not an assualts fault that a "CANKER SORE" light mech pilot can't steer to save his life, because that's "EXACTLY" what the "CANKER SORE" light mechs are supposed to do, (avoid getting hit with weapons), and if they can't even manage to steer out of the way of a slow lumbering assault, then it's their fault, and they have no business piloting the fastest, most agile Mechs in the game... PERIOD.. Don't punish the slow guys because lack luster "CANKER SORE" light pilots can't use the mech for it's intended role, that's not good...

A good compromise would be to have colliding with another mech spawn a similar effect to being bombarded with weapon fire. A Hunchback running headlong into an Atlas should have some kind of effect on the HBK pilot.

Collisions are still in... it's knockdowns that have been lifted.

And knockdowns were horribly broken, an eyesore, and way too binary in implementation.

I miss that element of pilot skill but the game is better off without them until they are made to work correctly.

Paul.. seriously .. light mechs with xl engine are covert by such a large lagshield that ive to lead 2 or 3 mech lengths to hit them. this is just insane right now.

so YES BRING BACK KNOCK DOWN:

remember the day the lagshield was gone.

I give that a 10/10 for trolling, but a 3 for actually being constructive.

Seriously, tackling was one of the things that kept lights from being insanely good. We're getting back to the era of "Streaks or go home" for how much fire a light draws now before going down, simply because they can go through a target instead of being forced around them. I've been seeing (and had it done) where the scouts are literally hiding under heavy/assault enemy 'Mechs and being able to clip through them to constantly backshot the target.

The cure was worse than the disease, and an excellent way to troll the userbase.

No knockdowns at all is worse than the previous implementation.
By far!

(and I say this as a light's pilot)
