If a mech is already counted as a kill, is the game still tracking the object remaining on the battlefield linked to the final damage report for that mech, or has it become a background object?

Like, say I leg a jenner. The kill message scrolls up and the mech falls to the ground, out of the combat. But it is still there. If I'm bored and unload into it is it still causing damage that shows up on the repair bill after the match?

I ask because I crash pretty often from cryengine errors, and generally when my mech gets out of the game it's been damaged, but not a whole lot. However there have been a couple times where I've crashed and when I was able to access my mech in the mechlab to repair it i looked like someone ground the poor little sucker into the ground and then melted the remaining shrapnel into a puddle.

Just wondering if I was running into someone being bored while capping and melting down my disconn for something to do.

More likely is, that there was like 5people capping and they all laid into you.

the answer is yes,
but it's a waste of ammo
even if you are on a laser boat, it's a waste of time

and you do critical other systems, and they do show up on screen when you destroy a component, even after they are dead
