Instead of doing automatic repair, you should do manuel repair.
It cuts the cost of repairs to around $1k per round.

Note: there are minimum level that game keeps.
25% for equipments
75% for parts (arms / legs)
75% for ammo

So you are going into the game with basic stuff.

partial repairs and partially full ammo bins aren't the best way to play, though. very often a win or loss could hinge on whether or not you ran out of internal structure in a hit location or whether your weapon is still functional.

Another idea to maximize your repair costs... avoid XL engines and Ferro Fibrous armor. Both of those are quite expensive to maintain.

If you look at the video.
You will see I repair
100% structre
100% Armor

for the cost of 968 cb... ( i can't remember exactly)
It is about keeping balance between cheap cost and playing.

If you watch your money total, every time you repair a part, it goes down by several thousand CB, I tried this too, but it seems it just isn't showing the actual repair cost.

Looks like you started with 3,528,905 in cbills and finished with 3,498833 cbills, A difference of 30072. That's the same total that was shown at the start for repairing Internals and armour (932+29109).

There was a similar problem in the closed beta with getting repair cost to show properly.
