I know this is likely a long shot, but I am hoping someone at PGI can answer, or at least hint at so we can do some long term planning.
Will there be future changes/additions to the Pilot Lab, that will require you to currently own the 3 variants again.
I am currently at the point of wanting to sell the other two variants, because I have done all the Mech Trees. But if I sell them, will I need to rebuy them when/if you add more items to the Mech Trees?

I'd really like to know this too.

I believe, since we are in OB now, everything you have is now yours. Including the Perks you have purchased for those variants.
You can sell your mech, and your Pilot Tree will still remain intact. That is my understanding after reading the stickies. Might want to check those out, and the Command Chair. Good Info there.

That is true, but not quite the issue.
With the current system, if I play all three variants and gain enough exp to research everything to Master level, but sell it without completely filling out the tree, it is grayed out and cannot be changed until you buy that variant again.
What my concern is if they branch the trees out and have new items to research, it may require you to own all 3 variants (as a prerequisite) to learning the new items.
If I knew this was going to happen, I would hang on the 2 variants (that I don't plan on playing) just to not have to buy them again.

Ah, now I see. I misunderstood. And that is a good question. One I don't have a answer for.

Well, you will keep experience on any variant you sell, so if you buy it back, you'll have it already.
The trouble is that you must unlock at least all basics on 1 variant, sell it, purchase the second, unlock basics; sell it, buy the third variant, unlock the basics and you'll be able to reach elite. Unfortunately, you won't be able to reach master after doing this, since you could not distribute/unlock all the 4 elite skills for the 2 variants sold.

huh? I currently have all three variants in my mech bay and filled out all the trees for all 3, except the module slot, which I only did on the one variant I want to keep.
As of today, I have no use for the other 2 variants, but would rather not sell them if I will be forced to buy them again if/when changes are made to the Mech Lab.
On the other hand, if I don't need them, I would really like to have the extra cash and free up the mech bays.
