I'm having a hard time fitting all this without dropping a shitload of armor.
Going to guess that you're not equipping an AMS with this one, right?

You should be able to fit a 250 with 304 or 320 armor, no ams, endo/ferro 2ml 1sl and 4 tons ammo - tune to taste.

I lIke how people mention the hump and how easy it is to defeat this mech once removed. Yes, you better remove it, cos if you don't you will be removed in two or three shots. Its 50/50. either i lose the hump and gimp around with lazors, or you lose your whole mech via my hump and i move on to the next victim. simple, really.

Hunch 4G
Standard 250
Endo, Ferro, DHS
AC10
2 Machine Guns
3 Medium lasers
3 tons of ammo for AC 10, 1 for machine guns.

Works great. The AC 10 provides decent range and hitting power, and up close, the lasers and machine guns wear targets down.

Dude, when you add a new comment to the thread, it gets listed on the main forums page (ie. newest updated post), which is why I read it.

My point is, you're reading and posting a response to a very old thread, with old comments that most likely only applied at the time. Whatever commentary you add now is not applicable.

Example: There was no ghost heat, mechs could climb mountains, there was no ECM at the time, etc. etc. This made the hunchback a much different mech back then. So people aiming at the hunch back then is completely different than people aiming at the hunch right now.

This is what I use:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f39118ffd9d55a6

It should be bad-but I am getting results with it.
Oddest thing is, every kill I got so far has been with......the machine guns. This build should not work but somehow it fits with me very well. First ever game with it was a 3 kill game....3 heavy mechs....all fell to MGs.....:(

Does anyone have a current 4G build that isn't horrible? I'm really tired of my founder mech being trash.

I swear, if I'd known then what I know now, and knew I wasn't getting any clan tech in the mech like a UAC20 or clan endo/DHS...I'd take a Catapult.

lol old, but eh relevent yet i guess.

I havent bought 4g, i theory crafted a triple ac2 loadout, but shawk is better for this. I will buy it eventually, and have decided to load it how I settled on my hero hunchie, ac10 and 3 ml and max std engine and whatever DHS i can fit after some ammo. yeah the g has triple ballistic points, but there is little to offer there at 50 tons, that isnt eclipsed by 55 ton shawk loadout. I like to try different things with mine, and one thing shawk cant do is be sneaky in closer combat. HBK is more nimble, and shorter/compact for some sneaky support fire shots. I get a lot of back shots in my hero HBK with the ac10 and big engine. and 25 point alpha with good heat managment isnt anything to sneeze at.

yes its a xl engine

2 ac 5 - 150 ac 5 shots - 3 medium lasers - xl 270- 96.2 kph - 320 armour

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...cc378e20c1fbc2d

though this build is probably what i would try for using 3 ballistics

1 ac 10 - 2 mg - 3 medium pulse lasers - 96.2 kph - 11 doubles - 320 armour
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...5126fab68d58821

and the standard engine version with 1 ac 10 and 3 mediums only at 96.2 kph

Spoiler

Someone commented on the Smiling Can Opener with an AC/20, 2 MGs and 2 ML.

View PostKoniving, on 11 May 2014 - 07:59 AM, said:

Twin smalls actually, but that's because I went for a particularly large engine to get in fast hit and get back out.

The founder's 4G is sporting LB-10x, 3 SPLs, 2 MGs. Without the LB that's a good 5.72 DPS and with a carefully aimed blow every 2.5 seconds or so, that's another 10 damage to armor and (with the + 15% crit damage to structure) 11.5 to 14.5 damage per LB-10x blast. It's actually significantly more effective than the can-opener. But what really rocks is running the two builds side by side.

Actually since I got an unusual number of likes for that build mention, I'm sharing Lordred's chase cam of the very first time I ran that 4G(F) build. (See through his commando's eyes! O_O )

And the score from that match, as it was both the best kill count and best damage I ever got from a Hunchback up til that day.

this works

2 LL + 1 ML + AC5,works and is not slow as a snail if you have the speed tweak, needs a bit heat management, but thats why the AC5 is there.

Hello you should try the CritBack4G ligth version of Jaeger 2x LB10x 4x MG.

Speed, effective, STD engine all you need too make the war.

I'd drop the engine down to 260 and fit another ton of LBX ammo in. at its fairly high rate of fire, two tons will most likely not last you a whole match.

Hunchback is my go-to medium.

I think the 'hunch' liability teaches the fundamentals quite well. I you are a slow learner, like i was, you lose that hunch quickly.

I run the ac20 3ml build.
Now, this is coming from a casual underhive gamer but on decent pug teams i usually last long in the match and get over 500dmg, several assists and 1-2 kills.

Pick your shots.
Turn that hunch away as you move back into cover.
Hang near the heavies.
Love that you can almost twist completely around.
That zombie head laser is oddly helpful.
Lead the reticle in front of a light 1/8 inch up close, 1/4 inch mid range. Dont fire the ac20 at a light at long range.

Thats all i know.

I find the ac20 crits better than lbx+mg...but thats just me.
