Aye, there once was a Derpy McNugglet,
Around 'mechs, he thought he could shove it,
But fire support soon rained in,
He took dual-gauss-rounds to the chin,
And he's remembered as Derpy McNubblet
Limericks are fun! Flinchy, jerky aim is not. Any tips for this? I've tried adjusting sensitivity both ways for several days each way, and have found no real solution.
I'm still an extreme noob at this game, I'm just now starting to be able to manuever while keeping aim. Sometimes. But this has been great progress, another stepping stone to follow
- Keeping aim on a target while they move, myself being stationary
- Moving in the right direction map-relative (Heading for the correct base? Scouting the outward flank for counters? Coming in to run a decoy for a pincer?)
- Pinballing effectively with terrain to take advantage of LoS (Line of Sight) to control the firing possibilities
- Heat management, refraining from ER while infighting, toggling group/sequence fire (remember, shaky aim here), dialing down throttle to 60%ish if having heat issues or else going no pewpew until pulling off to safety or being a meatshield for a Heavy
- Focusing specific parts - Is this an AC torso that will shred me? Should I clip the wings on this Jenner OH GOD NO THE LASERS BURN!!!!
- Roleplaying, as in surviving when I could not scout, and scouting when I could not support, then supporting when I could not distract, then distracting when I could not damage, then damaging when I could not kill. But now, I have a lone kill to my name (... I don't count the afk'er I got when I was a toddler, amazed to have found a friend who has none of the nasty hurties). And I am quite certain that for me to get more kills, I will have to be proficient in each of these areas, and more.
- Navigating Terrain, taking advantage of topography while travelling, fighting, and reading the map to get the lay of the land in preparation for chase-baiting and countermaneuvers
- Moving, steering with the wasd and "looking" with the mouse, and the concept that "looking" and "aiming" are not the same when it comes to weapons mounted on the arms. I fried many an imaginary scorpion in the blasted desert lands.
So yeah, there's my little attempt at a "Some things I've learned and might hope to share to others" and also my hello. Hi everyone! I've been hoping for a game like this for years, and stumbled upon it while reading the sarna.net wiki files on the Battletech universe. Yeah, I was reading the lore on a random whimsy, and tadaaaaaa! here we are. I think it's pretty cool.

Oooh, also, how can I report a bug? I've not checked the Known list but here's the scenario;
I modify the build on a mech, play a game, modify it again after the game - during which I buy a new part and equip it on the current mech - and as I hit "Save Configuration" the game interface freezes up and I can neither leave the 'mech lab, nor queue for a match, until I log out and back in.

Bugs? Chances are they know about it already & are still overwhelmed with the major ones from CB. I wouldn't worry too much about it right now.
What you've learned since you started playing? Looks like more than most.
Your aim? Needs practice. Any time I switch mechs I have to "acclimatize" to it & get the feel for how to aim it. Happens quick though. You either just need practice, or you're not as bad as you may think you are.
