For the Catapult with 6 Missle Weapon Slots, i would like to know which is the best for long range purposes:

1] 6 LRM15
2] 4 LRM20
3] 2 LRM20+Artemis & 2LRM15+Artemis

and yes...i know i would be sarcrificing LOTS of armor as well and engine speed. but just would like to know which is the best among those 3 in terms of offensive missle power.

Also, would TAG or NARC make any difference?

For 6 LRM15's, you're going to have to take the smallest rated XL engine, endo steel, and then remove enough armor to fit the 5 required heat sinks -- and then if you can find enough space to fit ammo, you'll overheat very fast. Four LRM20's is a similar setup.

I managed to cram 4 LRM15's in an Awesome, and while it kind of works -- you generate too much heat and can't fire them continuously. You're better off with fewer launchers and more heatsinks, and possibly some short-range backup weapons.

Personally, I'd recommend 4 streak launchers and 2 LRM launchers. As an A1, you can't fit a TAG laser. You could fit a NARC, but if they are that close to you, you'd be better off with an extra streak launcher. TAG and NARC on scout Mechs on your team lighting up targets for you does make a difference.

Get the MWO MechBay program and play with setups offline there to see what you can fit.

How the *** are you gonna load 6 LRM15 with ammunition on a cat? Multiple bags of holding? No engine? Maybe hauled by slaves along the three line?

Yeah sometimes less is more. In this case less weapons mean better mech.

On my C4 use 4 LRM10's with 2 ML; ES, dHS, 300XL and I never overheat with the LRMs.

oh, and BAP + Sensor range module

Best bet would be 3xLRM15s+Artemis, as many double heatsinks you can have while carrying at least 1000 missiles.

With ammo, as always - the more the merrier.

TAG would help. NARC is too heavy.


And you will run either into tonnage or heat problems, even with 3xLRM15s.

haha...i managed to do it. hence the question. here is a screenshot of it.

yea i know...NO ARMOR! XD had to go in a large group and really stay behind everyone. so that i wont get pick on at all. i was hoping to see glorious amount of 90 rockets in the air upon firing, but it seems they all just somehow graphically merge together in one spot as i fired. i guess its a great way to disguise 90 rockets into 15-30 rockets. LOL! so if i was on the receiving end, i would probably see and think "oh...that little rockets coming at me? oh no...can't take cover. nvm...i won't die with that little rockets." BAM! "WTH!?" haha...

but it was fun firing 90 rockets at one go. i didn't overheat when i fired once. it was about 75% heat. about there. but i did overheat once i fired the 2nd time. and i had about 1680 LRM ammo.

Also, i didn't die instantly just because i had no armor [0 armor]. i still die pretty fast but not instant. so i could take a few hits before i go POOF.

as for those who commented on TAG and NARC. okay. i guess its not really recommended to get one.Thanks for the comments. =D and Grayzzur, thanks for the recommendation of getting the Mechbay Program. totally wasn't aware of it. thanks!

I'm running 4 streaks and 2 LRM 15s. It's been working very well. I didn't sacrifice armor or speed, just had to put in double heat sinks and endo steel.
