I was pleased to see the way movement has much more fluidity in MWO. from watching the video you can clearly see a fast transition from forward to reverse which is a departure from most mechwarrior games where there is a pause before reverse is set. I like this because it will make manuvering much easier. I also noticed that once the mech landed from jump jetting it got going fairly quickly as well. All the movement in the video looked very polished and smooth.

I'm sure some people will have issues with the fact that you don't stop for long when coming down from a jump but I think they have hit the movement sweet spot and the gameplay looks amazing.

forward to reverse at 2:28 in the video is completly smooth
JJ landing at 0:28 has very short pause then picks right up.

I'm very apprehensive of both this and the faster torso twist. It feels unnatural watching it.

I'm glad to see the visceral feeling of the speed. In past games, 118 km/h was respectable, but it didn't really FEEL that fast. But hot damn if it didn't in these videos. Even going 90 km/h made it feel really fast. I think that's because of all the scenery. In past games, most of the scenery was just flat with a few badly proportioned trees (Mechwarrior 4 was really bad about this). You never felt like you were moving really fast. But in the video it was just insane.

I can't imagine what a Firemoth with MASC engaged feels like. Holy crap.

Agreed, I think it's the technology (i.e., CryEngine 3) that gives us the sense of speed and scale.

Did any one else notice the dual flamethrower Hunchback during the Light Mech breakdown? This makes me want to run around in a Firestarter screaming "TROGDOR" so bad now.

All these mechs look fat and bloated. Also I hope JJs move the crosshairs more in the future, i know its early but it would help keep people from pop tarting like MW4.

LRMs only shoot 640m?

But seriously, overall it looks amazing.

Yes in the actual table top normal lrms only shoot about 640 meters, Always thought there are somethings in table top that do not translate well in other areas such as games. but yea this game wont be so long range as mw4 was. You get to be up close allot more this time..

hmmm if LRMs only shoot 640m that really hurts the value of scout/spotter mechs. Granted its nice to fire without line of sight but they have a very short leash now. I was expecting long range missiles to shoot a "long" way, like 1000m and maybe further when assisted from scouts.

I think the shorter range is to help balance the fact they can shoot over terrain and hit targets that have been scouted by lighter 'Mechs. It prevents Catapults from camping their home base the entire game. I, for one, welcome our new LRM overlords.

You better be ready to welcome an AC20 into your cockpit, because I'm feeling the hunchback.

But that is exactly what limits the effectiveness of scouting. Now scouts/spotters are compelled to stay within a tight radius.
