I did a 4ML K2 once with an XL 315 fully armored & DHS. One day in Caustic Valley some brah says "WTF's up with the guy on our team in a K2 with the firepower of a Jenner? So I says, "who's that? You mean me?" & we talked a bit while I was still fighting & he was being dead (which doesn't mean I played better) & I says "you'll see at the end of the match" & sure enough broski, top dawg again. I've grabbed 6 kills in that build before. I took out a healthy Dragon & a healthy Cent on River City once that were trying to gang fu<k me when I had no armor left on my yellow CT after already puttin' down a couple. I'm not about to explain how I played it or why it worked, but I run my C1 & my 9M using the same principles with a few differences to the build. That guy that underestimated my loadout, is part of what gave it so much strength. Everything else comes down to how the build is played.

I don't play cats.
But I did watch a interesting fellow the other day who's layout seemed to drive people nuts.
2xLRM 15's or 20's
3 or 4x ssrms

There's nothing particularly interesting or imaginative about that build

My builds are primarily for heavy long-range support and the OCD desire to fill, as much as possible, hardpoints. Loadouts reflect this.
A-1: 2X LRM 15, 2X LRM 5, 2X SRM 6. 5 tons LRM ammo, 2 tons SRM ammo, XL 265, endosteel, armor 352, 4X JJ. Strong range support with limited amount of short-range ammo to discourage attackers. Would love to increase LRM number, ammo, or engine speed, but am reluctant to decrease armor. Any thoughts?
C-1: 2X LRM 15, 2X PPC. 4 tons LRM ammo, XL 265 (I share one engine...), endosteel, armor 304, 2X JJ. It's fun to fire an LRM volley, blast the same target with PPC then cool down and re-acquire target/move location, etc. Does fairly good ranged and medium distance, loses out a bit at very short range. Heat can become an issue on hot maps.
C4: 2X LRM 20, 2X LRM 10, 1X small pulse. 6 tons LRM ammo, XL 265, endosteel, armor 304, 2X JJ. Pure LRM support fire, volleys from this WILL kill anything stupid enough not to seek cover or busy engaging other mechs. High damage output, but useless up close. Must remain near lance-mates for protection.

A1/C1/C4: Jumpjets aren't implemented correctly, so only use one and shave tonnage off of your builds.
C4: 2xLRM20 & 2xLRM10 weigh 30tons, yet 4xLRM15 only weigh 28tons. The salvos will also leave your pods as synchronous volleys.
I hope this information is of some help to you,
Cheers,
Wove

Thanks so much for the advice on the LRMs!! I didn't notice that...will be very helpful. As for the JJs, I do know about that but I love using them and don't want to get into the situation of re-adjusting builds once I need to add the extras back on (I may have to if 2 is not enough, but will see at that time).

I've switched up my -C1F, no longer running the Archer-Pult I had previously.
2 Artemis LRM15s - 4 tons of ammo
4 Medium Lasers
BAP
AMS - 1 ton of ammo
300 XL
14 DHS (12 in engine, 1 LT, 1 RT)
Forget exactly how much armor, I think it's 368, max on torsos and arms, legs are a bit below max.
