Well in a couple of days you will find out what its like to not have premium bonus cbills. You can decide then if its really worth it.

People are just talking circles around each other. It's simple enough. Active Premium Time shortens the amount of time you have to play to get X thing. If you feel this is worth it, then buy Premium Time. If not, don't.

Doesn't get any simpler than that.

Cbills have no importance.

That's just dumb to say.

CBills let you unlock content. If you want to unlock content faster, you can spend money on the game. Either with premium time, or by buying mechs directly.

I don't get why people thought there was any real risk in the previous economic model. Repairs were pointless.

Who plays a lot doesn't need premium time, it's true.. an Ilya (or any other founder/hero mechs) are enough whenever you want or need to farm cbills.

I've yet to activate my 2 months, the real problem is that right now I've got 40 millions sitting in there looking at me and nothing to spend them on.. I've already got 3 stalkers (planning on selling 1) and nothing else to exp, I don't like lights/cicada, can't stand any centurion, catapults and awesomes, I already own all the other variants I need to master.

However I liked the latest patch a lot. I hope they'll start adding more content this way (especially new mechs and hopefully original maps); I need to spend cbills on orions and highlanders, but I fear I'll be waiting months to see either one of the two chassis.

Wait a minute, just realized this guy is a legendary founder. Jeez. No need to buy premium time for you, dude. You paid into it enough that if you're ever strapped for cash, just roll out with your Founder Mech.

Founder's Mech bonus alone, without the Premium bonus on top of it, is not all that great.

Figure 25k per match for Founder's, 50k per match for Premium; 75k per match for both (a bit more if they 'stack?')

It ain't bad, but it ain't great. I bought 30 days premium with MC, rather than activate 90 days Founder Premium, to work up some cash for the first 30 days or so. That runs out I think day after tomorrow. And I'm still broke as a joke, but that is because I keep buying mechs and not selling them :)

If you're sitting on a giant pile of money, then go ahead and buy 1 of each engine type, for standards and XL's.

We're all going to get around to that eventually, so if you have the money and "nothing" to spend it on, start unlocking all the engines, so that you have total customization available to you.

Personally, if I had 50 million just sitting around, I'd honestly save it for the Highlanders and Orions. I mean, that's probably about 57 million in mechs right there.

I think I have about 60 days or so left and the only reason I will do it now is to support the game. They had mentioned premium giving you better prices for paint jobs ect., but it doesn't. The other thing is the Trebuchet and Jagermech are the only mechs coming out in the near future that I want. I was planning on buying them with MC but with repair and rearm removed (want it back it was cool), and the mechs I like to play all maxed out anywho why bother. I will probably be sitting on a gazillion C-Bills so why bother.

It's hard to justify premium time right now when it's by the day and I only play a couple hours of that. I feel like I'm wasting $.

And ppl say RNR slowed down cbill gains... posts like this just prove that the game IS NOT a grind. But it should be a little more grindy

Problem is that I already own more engines than mechs, both coming in standard and xl flavors. I've already bought engines thinking about the highlander..

Well If you were used like me to run xl+endo and expensive items or ammunitions the only viable way to grind while using them was to exploit the 75% rearm and repair. That honestly was a joke.

Mind that I play several hours per day (at least 2/3, during these holidays even more), I'm a decent to good player, I've farmed like hell during the free founder premium time (it was like a mission) and later on I tend to play using my Ilya or my founder Atlas, swapping to my other mechs whenever I'm tired of both. Now I've decided to re-try the awesomes, but I'm starting to regret it.. Add in that I haven't spent a single cbill in changing a single color of any of my mechs and I've not bought a single module since both things as it is now are quite useless or too costly to appreciate any benefit.

When I was using only the stalkers to exp them I didn't gained so much money with the latest patch, quite frankly I earned much more with rnr sys exploiting the 75% free rearm and of course free premium.

The preimum bonus was easy for me to justify. I play frequently, so I am not wasting bonus time, and I enjoy playing a variety fo mechs, and builds. I also place a high value on my entertainment, and the ability to avoid the "grindy parts" for a few bucks is well worth it to me.Other may have more tollerance for grinding, or a smaller gaming budget.

Here is a budgetary breakdown my MWO premium time.
To date I have gained $106,017,504 free C-Bills through my premium bonus, as well as 471,389 free XPs.
I currently have $25,000,000 C-Bills in the bank. So without premium time I would have to give up over $80,000,000 in mechs, upgrades, and modules.

Of course some people may want to save their premium time for when they are going to be more active, with either more free time, or a greater willingness to play. If you are only putting in a few hours a weekend, then maybe activing a month of premium times isn't a good value, maybe buing a day at a time with MC is a smarter play.

Wait till the Clan-tech hits. Guarantee we'll start feeling the grind when that happens. If not, then its priced way too cheaply. Personally I'm saving my c-bills for that day.

for a few bucks PT allowed me to get 3 sets of mechs (9 mechs), weapons/upgrades and get them all to masters in a very short time (basically i can make over 9mill in a few hours). you can not do this with hero mechs. now that i own 3 sets of fully upgraded mech, im happy to farm/play with that.

the way i saw it was if i spent 20 bucks on a hero mech, i would only own 1 mech. with the same 20 bucks spent in PT i can own over a dozon mechs. your going to play anyway so time doesnt count, but what you gain from that time does.

obviously there is no RNR now, but tbh i made more when i lost before the rnr change. RNR is only beneficial to pilots who have repair bills exceeding 50k. \

PT is a cheap way to get mechs, weapons and upgrades in a short period of time. i needed a variety of mechs to play ASAP or i would of got bored.

I'd say it depends on how much you plan on playing. If you know you are going to play a lot then it might be worth getting assuming you are still trying to grind other various mech. I personally seem to keep playing the same few mechs and have somewhat stalled on my grinding. However I believe PGI should make premium time more attractive. Perhaps some unlimited cosmetics (paint) when it's active.

Is there really any other reason needed? ;)

in all honesty premium time is a complete waste. it doesnt take long to make money in trial mechs. if you play smart trial mechs can be conmpetitive. since you are a founder you can just hop in a founder mech and get about the same bonus as premium time.

No, just no. Unless you have everything you want bought, paid for and trained premium time is a great boost. If you only want to master a single chassis or have infinite free time, then yeah I might see your point, but I know I would be way behind where I am without using both Premium time, Hero and Founder's bonuses.
