Same thing I experienced, some crazy dudes will rush in between me and my dying target trying to steal the kill and then I will TK that guy's armorless back... if you intend to do something like that, make sure you max out your rear armor.

Sadly happened to me today and I got my second TK - wish I knew who it was as I'd apologise but never knew until after the match when I saw the -150xp/-10k c-bills penalty. :(

I dunno, and this is only anecdotal first hand experience, but it *seems* to me that in the past 2 weeks or so friendly fire has just gone crazy. Did we get an influx of wild-eyed trigger-happy ******* with no fire control discipline, or am I seeing things? (I see things quite often - I blame the booze)

i agree with the influx of wild-eyed !@@#$%. There's no perfect solution to this. I get the feeling were just gonna have to deal with it.

I'm getting sick of this too. Instead of a lump sum penalty for when you kill an ally, why not give a smaller penalty for every 10 damage you deal to an ally or something along those lines?

Step between me and my prey at your own peril. Otherwise you should be safe :(

While pugging, some freebirth Atlas pilot decided to help me (Commando) chase a Raven on the ice map and thought he could just shoot over my shoulder and make hits.... but kept glancing on my shoulders. I stopped, turned, and shot him in the head twice with my pulse lasers. So he stopped, turned, and went his merry.

I finished the Raven and ended the match with 450+ damage.

He could have decided that my FF was worth returning but I believe he understood my anger from his FF.

For all the people that can't tell friend from foe due to ECM, hit the Q key. It highlights everyone on your team.

Lack of accountability and no repercussions . . . yes, its happening A LOT, more than should be acceptable.

my fix is as follows . . .

friendly fire - negative two points exp and four c-bills for EVERY point of damage done to a friendly unit.

and as far as the rest, people don't have to pay for rearm and repair now so they don't care where they are, what they're in front of or what kind of i d i o t (. . . the word should NOT trigger the language filter, FIX IT!!!) they are making out of themselves, its nothing but a duke nukem slugfest right now. . .

no collision, no penalties ( unless you kill someone ) and no R&R = idiots galore. . . on top of that add the fact that PGI has done NOTHING in the way of New Pilot training what do you expect. . .

Proliferation of ECM has forced more players to brawl. Nerfing the gauss has done the same thing. So you see less gauss and less LRMs, which renders far less, careful, long-range support. As a result, everyone stuffs themselves into a brawl to be effective. On top of this, you have the lack of RnR (Which, isn't really a bad thing, mind you. Especially not bad for Beta), and the change in the economy leads to people wanting that sweet damage money. Combine with increased night maps and use of night and thermal vision, on top of said ECM proliferation which interferes with identifying who's a friendly and who's not. Also, bugs, such as the yellow screen bug means you have to play without a HUD throughout the entire match, resulting in both friendly fire, and co.cksuckers who seem to think that Mechwarrior and online play in general deserves as much seriousness as real life combat (Seriously, go die).

In all honesty, it's a fragged up mess and needs fixing, but don't worry folks, it's only a beta, and PGI is busy rigging up repaints of mechs and cockpit items to improve your playing experience!

The days of friendlies jumping between you and your target might diminish slightly once the masses realize that getting the kill shot is actually costing them cbills, as you dont get the assist bonus of 7500 if you get the kill bonus of 2500 (I think its 2500 now, maybe 5k)

Yes, there are issues, but I hope that last part was sarcastic as it's rather ignorant.

The people making those cockpit items and mech skins are not the people who work on bugs, and are entirely incapable of doing so. Game design and programming are fairly out of the scope of your average professional artists' skillsets. Those cockpit items and mech skins are the fruits of the artists' labours, and those things are required to pay the wages of the programmers and designers who are working on fixing those bugs.

Or do you really think that PGI is just doing this on their spare time, out of the goodness of their hearts? They don't need to eat, right? Or pay mortgages?

Yeah, so all of the fire I take in my Cicada when I'm chasing that ECM raven between 5 assualts and heavies that can't really track him anyway?

Screw it, I'll let you guys deal with him. You can shoot each other.

I'd be in favor of teamkilling penalties or even damage penalties but the problem is that it doesn't really put a stop to ********* who get their jollies by ******* others off- it just means that his victims cannot fight back without getting griefed by the system as well as the offending player.

Maybe a vote to kick system? It'd have to be split between teams (so you can't vote to kick someone on the other team), and maybe that system could be abused too, but....

It's never going to be completely fixed so long as friendly fire is possible.
Heck, a couple days ago a friendly Dragon dropped on my head from a cliff, and died from the impact damage.
I got kill credit and lost 150xp.

Just been teamkilled by a moronic Atlas pilot....his reaction:
"That's what happens if you stand in front of an Atlas..."
Not that my movement was very unpredictable in my 50KPH mech.

So I guess there is an influx of stupidity.

i am kind of mixed feelings about stronger penalties for ff and t/k, one aspect i say yes make em more tougher, i.e. more cbill/exp loss but the other aspect is there are times people will do dumb things that takes your fire. 2 times i have had t/k on light mechs just from fireing my missiles on an assault mech. cant stop the missiles in mid flight if the mech dies and ya sure cant stop the fool for standing on the mech that just died and take the missile hit.

had another t/k today and have no idea how it happened, fired on a mech with its back to me, teammate was in front of the enemy mech fireing into its face, i fire 2 med pulse into its back (and i only fired once), next thing i know both the enemy mech and the teammate was killed by me. so should i get a penalty for that? I dont know.

its a tough call for the devs to make. granted i admit if have put down a few people at spawn point when they are fireing on teammates and gladly take the cbill loss for it.

One thing is for sure, I do NOT want FF removed from the game.

Apologizing to someone who rushed in to try to steal your kill and get himself killed instead? No way. Its like trying to apologize to a rat killed by your mouse trap for trying to steal your cheese...
