As I understand, you need to buy all variants of a mech AND level them all up. This system in itself is really crappy, I have to play mechs i dont like which is really annoying.

Once I've unlocked all the slots though am I free to get rid of them? or are the elite skills locked on the mech i want to play if I do?

You keep skills for mechs you've sold. So if you unlock elite then sell the mechs, you still have elite unlocked.

but you don't get any extra money back for the upgrades you've invested in it. and the resale value is pathetic. of course if you don't have mechbay slots and dont' have mc, not much else you can do

Are there any plans of them changing the xp tree system soon? Seems very poorly designed.

Yes thats been one of my issues due to the hardpoint system you have to waste money on 3 mechs just to get vet. skills and you get 5 mech slots at the start.

No were in Battletech does it say you have to put a LRM in this left arm or that gauss needs to go in the RT. It opens up a lot of fun builds like the 20 MG of death or the Ultra AC 20 Atlas.

This is a Dev. add in to make it more realisitc but in the end total customization is whats hot right now with FPS and Free to Play.

When Star Wars Galaxys first came out there were at one time 500,000 Han Solo decoys out there at one point the bountyhunter guild tried to exterminate them all.

Thanks

Tip:

Before you sell off a Mech, strip it down COMPLETELY. Take out everything, remove all armor, all of it.

Everything in the Mech, and the Mech chassis sells for 20% of it's original value but you can manually sell the equipment for 50%. Armor and ammo you can't sell, but before R&R was removed (it'll be back, you're kidding yourselves if you don't think it will be) you could use your excess armor to pad out some games.

Resale value is like 15%.

If you have the MC i've found it's more enjoyable to just play the mechs I want and convert the xp to gxp : /

The devs have said before the the efficiencies aren't going to be the primary way to customize / "level up" your mech. The modules are what will do that. We just don't have enough modules yet to make it seem that way.

That being said there is a very interesting module list in the game files. Things like magnetovision and airstrike accuracy buffs.

I've found interesting builds for most of the variants I've bought, but I sold the heck out of that 4 MG cicada. That thing is terrible incarnate.
