I've sync dropped before, not full 8 mans, not since 8v8s were reintroduced. Never was it to 'stomp Pugs' mainly because you'd have 5 in a room and they'd all want to play together. Perhaps a short term solution would be to have a limit of 1 group per side. Still, I guess solo players could be grieifed by two teams co ordinating on either side.

Another option would be to have all groups from 2-8 launch into group games, it would encourage players to have bigger groups . PUGS then have the option to opt into the group matches (perhaps these earn a bonus for doing so) to fill in the numbers up to 8. This is how I can see the battles in CW working. Kind of the point of being a lone wolf and how it was suggested in early dev blogs.

Improved commands such as being able to primary targets and have quick commands would be useful in the non voip environment.

I would have to agree about taunting though, the worst offenders are the ones that at the start will say This defeat is brought to you by such and such join @ ect. Or messages to that affect.

Small groups wouldn't bother launching into the group matches if they knew they could end up against a group of 8 though.

They would instead try to sync-drop solo.

@housecat: or we can just wait till mm3 ELO is here and all this discussion will be as moot as it is now.

Or that he's believing what the vocal minority is complaining loudest about.

Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it

well yeah better MM... that would be nice, and is essentially what I'm getting at

Regarding "Make the lie simple"... You know I could just say the same right back at you? And we could chase our tails all day.

Pugs get smashed more often than not if a team is involved. Matchmaking needs improving, you seem to agree.

With that in mind, I don't think it's helpful when I see some people papering over complaints about matchmaking like they don't exist. And I don't think its helpful to new users, to see a thread where guys are saying how cool it is they can exploit the MM. Similarly, people ignoring possible imbalances with certain equipment and mechs, because they happen to be their favourite, is not helpful. If someone doesn't enjoy MW we could at least try to be objective, and figure out why that person is not having fun, in some cases they just need tips, but it's helping no one if they continue to feel the same way.

The tone of this thread seems to be, "oh you got dropped against a team of 8, it's an exploit, but never mind" When it should be "yeah that sucks but hang in there till the MM is updated" Honestly it would have been more useful to say nothing at all.

This community is hardly full of bad apples, but the bad apples seem to speak the loudest, and they can be found on either side of many a debate.

But even if you had a solo que people would do this. And chances of being on the same team let along same game would be very small. Besides surely when (IF) Community Warfare this is how it would work, teams would attack planet A their ranks would be filled with lone wolves if need be.

Hopefully by community warfare we would have a better population and a sounder MM. (here's to hoping phase 3 would work out!).

Atm though if you made a solo only queue I think it would turn out like the current 8man queue has. Waiting forever for matches, no weight restriction and 1-2 common builds/teams.

I have seen many people say they do not, or if they do it happens very rarely. IMO if you sit down and play for more than a hour at a time you are likely to run into one. This is far from the first one i have seen.

Wow.. one whole premade sync an hour?!?!?!??????????!?!

STOP THE PRESSES

So that would be like... 1 out of 6-8 drops?
Thank you for confirming what I have said all along. AKA that while they do happen (and the people that do them are lacking in genitalia that they are FAR less common than the PUGnation (of which I belong) would like to believe. Since the posts on here would lead one to believe that EVERY loss happens to a Sync drop, I guess we just blew that myth out of the water.

Interesting ideas/ For me, in the short term I just want to see some attempt at balancing the number of 'team mates' per side. It doesn't have to perfect. Just some simple hard rules and an effort to place a similar number of grouped players on either side. Two pairs against a team of three etc. Of course, that could already be in the game in some form!

When we eventually start getting 12v12 a lot of these matchmaking issues will probably go away. With more mechs on the field it will take larger groups to have a significant advantage.

Perhaps if they allowed clan tags to be added to players names, you'd at least see who was playing in a group. But yeah basically it boils down to better MM. A lobby wouldn't go amiss too.

The tags would help a bit but some groups may not be made up of a single merc corp. Group tags would help a bit more in this case.

A lobby system for games may work but I see this potentially turning into "Lets go find the easiest team to kill while avoiding any game hosted by a good team".

Apologies, I meant like a pre game lobby? So you'd click launch all the same and then be placed into a lobby as the teams fill up. You'd have global chat and team chat ect ect. Then maybe a 60 second timer. Gives you more time to introduce yourself to your team and possibly come up with a plan.

Believe someone in another post made an awesome mockup of one.

While the idea makes sense wouldn't this just lead to lone-wolf players dropping out of the lobby if they saw a known pre-made group on the other side or in the case of a pre-made team, dropping out if they saw a better team join?

Having a lobby wouldn't stop someone dropping out at the site of a premade, hopefully an improved match maker would alleviate the skill difference. A lobby would help with communications between players on a team though.

Making coordinated voip teams less of the bogey men they're seen as.

GREAT sensatinalist headline there proof sync drops happen .

why did you feel the need to raise this AGAIN? do you feel vindicated now youve prooven to the whole comunity that sync drops exist we know . right ill go out on a limb now and say in MY experience people only sync drop to play with friends, not to stomp anyone its not an exploit or greifing

pgi are well aware it happens and dont care no one except freshly stomped players whine about it . or even care , ive spent as much time face down in the dirt after dying as the next

player you go into a battle you fight sometimes you die its a game , with the excepton of the odd draw some one has to loose if you cant take a beating then dont play a pvp game . innit

But, it's just my opinion and not one of the Devs or Staff. They can have their own opinions. They can even overlap with mine. I still just speak for me, though, when I give my opinion (as noted previously).

When you are wearing the tags of a community moderator, it is not in fact "just your opinion". You are given a mantle of authority and with it comes responsibility to act professionally.
If you were using an alt account that did not reveal your moderator identity, this would be different, but you don't do that. You 'moderate' arguments between clans while wearing banners for your own clan. You argue your personal opinion while logged in to an account that reminds others that you have power over them.

Stop stating "just your personal opinions" when you are logged in as a mod. It's unprofessional and inappropriate.

I think he did handle himself well as a mod. He should be allowed to state his opinion in a civil way just like the rest of us. I find it more professional to state and stand by your opinion politely and openly instead of making an alternate account to do so.

The meaning of professionality is defined by one's profession.
A moderator has the responsibilities of 1:mediation and 2:arbitration. In order to mediate one must appear to be a neutral and objective party in all disputes. Advocating your personal desires is contrary to this role. In order to arbitrate fairly, one must truly begin from a neutral frame and be truly objective. This concept is called "tabula rasa".

It is established fact.

Sync drops are easy to setup but hard to get from the server side. When we have less then 8 team mates online but more than 4, we will usually attempt an equal split team sync drop of 3 + 3. Its not fun with this setup as we end up fighting each other on opposites as well. Other times we miss the mark totally and ending up in polar ends of the the server. Anyways, speaking for my merc corp, we prefer 8v8 as the quality of the matches are insane and cutthroat until the last mech with usually no camp rush as these matches ends in fatality as a referenced way to end the matches. Have fun and hope we dont meet up with your team if yours are just wanting to have fun and all. Our sincere apologies if we do meet up. Have Fun and GL.

Seems your name also means how you view the world. But by definition you're right though I'd interpret being a forum moderator as a profession loosely.

I still don't believe he did anything wrong by stating his opinion.

Sync Dropping is not considered to be a punishable exploit by the Game Developers... but performing in-game actions that are intended solely to cause undue inflammation and anger, such as Sync Dropping with the sole purpose of PUG Stomping and Taunting other Players about your Sync Drop to make Pick-Up Gamers feel jilted, is, in my opinion, a form of Griefing.

In my opinion, I feel that Sync Dropping and then TAUNTING other that you are a PUG-Stomping Sync Drop is a form of Griefing. It's the Taunting that makes it a deliberate act of Griefing, but I am not suggesting that you email Support about it at this time. I'd have to hear from the Devs/Staff whether or not this is reportable. I'll go ask.
