Essentially it boils down to the fact that MC prices are out of control. One of two things needs to happen: either increase the amount of MC you get with real money, or decrease the prices of mechs with MC. It's one thing to have hero mechs be expensive, but who is going to pay $15 for an Awesome? I think the cockpick items and paints are quite reasonable, but frankly I don't care about those things enough to warrant spending real money on just that stuff. Especially when that stuff is on a per-mech basis.

Mech prices are in line with other F2P games. Just buy MC when it's on sale to get the best deal.

well the short answer is DON'T spend MC to buy mechs that are available with C-bills.

Didn't even notice he was talking about an Awesome on first read.

Yeah, what Tomman said- don't spend real money on things that you can buy with Cbills!

Yes, I realize you shouldn't with the current pricing. But that doesn't really change my point. You SHOULD be able to buy mechs with MC at reasonable rates.

I think the mech prices are about right, its the paint and patterns that are ridiculously priced (in light of the fact that they are on a per-mech basis, and they are lost forever if you ever change them)

I still think $15 is way too much for a mech of any class. These aren't skins like LoL, and League is a totally different game from MW. MOBAs are typically involve using 1-2 champions and getting really good at them. MW has never been about that. Just take the XP trees, for example. They require you to have MULTIPLE variants of the same mech.

Although I will agree on the paint prices. I had assumed that those were unlocked on an account-wide basis.

You like the free game, but the items in the game are too expensive. Would it be better for you if they charged you 15 dollars but the game came with a free mech? I think this is a perspective problem, not a pricing issue.

No, look. I would LOVE to be able to spend money on this game. I've played more than few F2P games and have invested money in those that I like. I like this game, but there is no smart way to spend money. Mechs are too expensive, paints are mech-bound (but would be perfectly reasonbly priced if it was an account-wide unlock), and what does that leave me with? A flag on the side of the inside of my cockpit?

This simply is not true. I play three other F2P MMO titles and my money goes a LOT further in those games than it does in MWO. I find the MC prices on many of the items to be absurdly expensive, especially the vanity items.

The only items I find to be reasonably priced are monthly premium status, mech bays, and xp exchange...and thus the only things I spend my MC on. I'd love to spend my MC on the other stuff, but it's just too exorbitant.

Then buy the amount of MC you think the game is worth and wait for prices on in game items to fall. Don't let their poor pricing keep you from rewarding them for making a good game.

If I spend money I'm also rewarding their poor pricing.

As you know I run with the trial Mechs and live in the hope that one day they will just slap a price on MWO and let me buy it like any of the previous Mech series. I didn't know about the Cbills thing though; how does this work? Can I use the accumulated Cbills shown at the bottom right of my screen to do this? If so, how?

Just go into the mech lab. If you have enough you'll have the option to purchase mechs with c-bills.

In the MechLab, click on "Owned Mechs" on the left side of the screen. Find an empty mech bay then click on the buy mech tab on the empty spot. Pick the mech you want, then buy it. It will be added to the empty spot.

How "using 1-2 mechs and getting really good at them" is different from "using 1-2 champions and getting really good at them"?

Mechs are bought with c-bills, they have very little to do with real life currency (except for hero variants obviously, but those are not required for unlocking XP trees).

This DOES highlight a hole in the F2P strat currently used. Premium accounts offer no trickle of MC like several other F2P titles( My understandng is that my founders account is not the same a basic premium). I think it could be made much more attractive if it offered say..1.5k MC a month for the current going price. That way you have a paying customer that can, with a little patience, afford any feature in the game, while granting this title needed revenue at the same time.

-If I am mistaken on how Basic premium accounts work, please correct me, in any case, it's past due time to put up a "what you get for X page that is a clear and concise advert on this site besides just "Buy MC" As it stands now, it appears as if 12 days premium time is 14.95(30 dollars for MOST of a month).....that's more expensive than a WoW account and I'm not sure that's what MWO intends to represent.(250 MC per day is what i can currently see)

-At the current set up, that's $180 MORE per year just for basic premium than a non-F2P account(WoW), so the OP has a very valid point(thanks for the post caused me to do some quick research). Again If I've gotten anything wrong, it's because i can't locate the truth on this site at the moment, so I apologize for any innacuracies and hope that they are corrected by someone more knoweledgable on the subject than me. (There is probably a standard discount for a months purchase, but again, i can't see it)

Other than mech bays, nothing even comes close to 'must spend real money to enjoy game'. And mech bays are probably the most affordable item in the game. Don't spend money if you don't think it's worth it. Just because they are selling something, it doesn't mean you have to buy it. Prices are all subject to change. There will always be another MC sale. In the meantime, just have fun playing.

ERMMMMM, items are not per mech. They are for every mech, a hula girl can be placed in whatever mech you are piloting. You can take them out and put them in a cockpit of another mech.
