I think I am going to start.

Friendly fire has always been part of this game, and in the pew-pew-pew world post-ECM, there is a hell of a lot more of it. Part of this makes sense, as sometimes ECM does make it hard to tell friend from foe.

That said...

What I have noticed is a ton of people with ZERO regard to line of sight. It's much worse than it has ever been. The number of times I am completely taken out of a fight because one (or more) of my teammates have no concept of there being anyone else on the battlefield... You know the ones, that run up to "pile on", take a hit or two and get scared, then go full reverse in front of all of their teammates, either soaking up friendly fire, or impeding their ability to shoot.

It always happens, and always will happen, it's just part of the game. What I've noticed lately though is it is happening farrrrrrrrr more than ever before. It's downright infuriating when you are in a slower brawling mech like an Awesome or Atlas.

I am almost always conservative in my shots, going out of the way to prevent friendly fire incidents. Lately though, I am starting to think this is a mistake... let life be the teacher and just fire away.

Anyone else notice this behavior getting a ton worse lately, or have I just had a bad run? It's to the point I am putting heavy brawlers away and sticking to either long range assaults, or faster skirmishers.

I think removing repair and rearm may be encouraging different playstyles than before.

You know what, I hand't considered that, but it certainly has gotten bad since RnR was removed! Now it makes a lot more sense why this behavior is on the rise.

I can tolerate it a bit more in a HNK or DGN, because I can easily maneuver for a better shot, but in an Atlas or Stalker, you can spend >75% of the fight just trying to get a damned shot in.

People get target fixation. They want to shoot whatever red target they have lit up, with little regard to what is between them and their target. Many players also have no idea where their weapon's fire is going to come from, I suspect this is because in most FPSes weapons fire comes out of the characters forehead or the center of the players viewpoint, rather than the weapon that is either in their shoulder or fired from their hip.

I doubt it has anything to do with the removal of RnR other than the game's population has increased since that occurred.

It's tempting but I manage to resist.

I have, on occasion, shot a friendly with PPCs due to gun delay.

Now, there have been just as many that are entirely my fault, but using FRAPS and some video editing software, I've noticed upwards of quarter second fire delays.

It's still my fault, but I hope something is done about that at some point. A mech can move into your line of sight pretty easily in a quarter second.

With fraps I've been able to notice odd things with trajectories as well. My left arm laser will clear a friendly to my left, but then I fire left torso missiles and they hit the friendly.

A good warboss is the first in, and the first to die, if someone has to die.

Hey, how about some 8 manz? Oh, didn't think so.

Depending on your mech ... the answer is to move before the view is blocked.

I've seen this happening too ... I have also seen the situations developing where I know it is going to happen ... where team mates are likely to move to block the line of fire to the target. In these cases, I move to alternate firing location before they block the line of fire. It is a bit inconvenient but otherwise not a big deal.

Part of the problem is that some people have that "zerginyourfacecauseithinkimgood" play style

and they for some unknown reason JUST HAVE to literally be kissing the other mechs face or they feel like their not doing it right
and then they take all the FF and die then get pissy

this is mostly pointed at all you bad heavy/assault pilots that think "facezerg" is a valid tactic...its not and ur bad.

im pretty sure once we get more urban style maps it prob either get worst or get better..

but it also just the way it is..be aware of your allies and surroundings and ff would happen less ..least that how it works for me

unless your in a light mech...then i dont care if i kill you with ff or not..

Yeah, like I said, in a more nimble mech its not such a big deal. I mean, its still hurting your team when people do this, but the impact is minimized because you can reposition.

If you are in a land-ark like a Stalker... yeah, not so easy to relocate. Thats when I find it truly irritating, when I am in a brawling config assault.
