The Mech "Walk"

Over the years I've attemped to play other mech style games since there was a big gap in Mechwarrior. Specifically, I recall Armored Core on my PS3. When I played it, I felt like I was just a "guy", not a giant mech, running around no different from starwars battlefront or other shooters.
I hope that MWO keeps that giant mech "feel". Its hard to explain. Do you guys know what I'm talkin about?

Too many of the current games out are 3rd person affairs. While that's great for situational awareness, it really has a drawback in player immersion.

The one when you start pushing your throttle forward, and feel the entire cockpit lurch forward, pressing the seatbelts against your ribcage? Followed by violent rock left and right that prevents you from keeping your head up straight as you reach cruising speed? Then followed by the "bounce" every half second with the feeling of flying in between each step, as your mech glides across the ground at 86.4kph?
Ya, it has that.

Thats it. That's the mech walk. Love it. Glad its here. Now I'll feel better about shelling out the $60.00 on June 17!

That sound of increasing power from engine when you increase throttle. Those stomps always shaking your screen...
Everyone has his own favorite part of it, but it's in.

And at the end of the day don't we all just walk to pilot a giant Mech and blow stuff up? It's good to feel powerful.

That's why you load the Catapult up with LRM 5's and set them to chain fire. Once you get a target lock at about 200m inside max range and closing you start firing one at a time with a 1 or 2 second pause before you fire the next. You will always have loaded tubes, your target will never get a good shot off and your team mates can close the gap and enguage him at medium range after taking little or no damage from him. Or they deal with the rest of his team first and then close on him.
But you do have to love the walk, have to figure out the sweet spot where you are moving fast enough to be harder to hit but are still dealing with just a rolling back and forth.

I BF2142, the walkers felt much more stompy to me. You even had to learn to compensate for your side to side lumbering mech when you fired your guns. It was quite nice.

One thing I am really hoping for is graphical effects while inside the cockpit that make it more immersive, especially related to taking on damage.
One game that did the "Mech Walk" fantastically, was Killzone 2. Especially when you consider it is not a mech game...
