i skimmed through the posts and didnt see anyone mention it, but i figured i woudl add that a 300-310 standard engine will be very usefull on a stalker. stalkers, you will notice, always lose a side torso before losing the center torso, and XL engines are a no-no. But fro brawling you need as much speed as possible, and the faster the engien speed, the bette rteh torso twist speed, turn speed, and teh more heatsinks you can house. when you make your way to owning 3 stalkers, like i do, then all yoru basic skills in the Skill tree are doubled, and that proves very usefull for the stalker.
now with the 3H. one advantage it does have over other stalkers is that it comes stock with LRM 20s in the arms, and thus has 20 missle holes. so when you shoot an lrm 20, it all goes in one volley (where as other stalkers have 10 slots and so you have to wait for two waves of missles to come out, which over time lowers your DPS.)
stalker wise, the 3F is the best brawler, but all stalkers can take tons of damage before falling over. bes ure to load up on heatsinks ( i run between 16-22 DHS)
the 3H makes an admirable LRM boat. i run 4LRM15 with 3 Ml and a TAG. with the TAG you can get a lock on the other team within ECM's protection and rain down the hellfire.

now, because i feel no one was clear enough, concerning FF and ES upgrades:
both take up 14 critical structure locations, making them best on Lights, wise on Mediums, a tight squeese on Heavies, and hardly ever a good idea on Assaults. XL engines take up 6 extra crit spots in the side torsos, and so be aware of that when using these upgrades, and DHS take up 3 crit spots each, so you cant use very many heatsinks as well as Endo Steel or Firo FIbrous. finally. FF armor technically makes what armor you have weigh less, but cant raise your maximum potential points of armor. this make Endo Steel ALWAYS the better choice of the two, as it always frees up more tonnage, so some lights can make use of both ES and FF, but other than that, never use FF.

feel free to use http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab (no relation to me) before dropping the hard earned c-bills and finding out something doesnt fit.

sorry for the rant, i hope it proves somewhat usefull, and that im not too late to help here.
