I'm curious how exactly is it that PGI will implement faction warfare. I've read things about us being able to fight over control of certain systems while PGI has control over key systems for the storyline.

I would love to see more of an open game concept. Kinda like EVE except the game is on the planets instead of in space. But if what I read is true, does that mean the IS houses and clans will all be "npc corps"?

I think they should set it up to make them "alliances" that the "player corps" can be a part of but there would also be "npc corps" that would contain the key players for the purpose of advancing the story.

But what is capturing a planet/system?

I certainly hope it's not just 12 vs 12 between clans on a slightly bigger map. Winner takes.

I would prefer to be able to leave base from a home system (certain home systems don't switch control), drop onto a planet where each planet is one of a dozen or so maps They should be massive maps. Think the world map of Skyrim or Oblivion in relation to the player's character within those games. Instead of cities, there are bases that can be captured and controlled. You drop down with a couple guys and patrol the grounds looking for enemy. You meet up with a couple other groups and assault some bases.

The faction who controls the most territory on the map, has dominate control of the system. There should also be an incentive for control. By controlling more space and/or certain systems, you get things like bonus c-bills and xp per match, cheaper RnR, discounts when purchasing new items with c-bills, unlocking new features with xp, etc.

On the flip side, the fewer systems you control, the easier it is for you to defend what you have. That way, to expand your control over more systems than everyone else becomes an uphill battle.

Egads man! are you trying to give the map artists and modellers a heart attack?

If the modelers had hearts, we'd have Mad Cats and Urbies, therefore not an issue.

(j/k, modelers, please don't turn my Cicadas into blimps)

As cool as it sounds, I think the way its going now is better. The independent maps doesn't really add much to the conquest feel of the game, but it does ensure some kind of balance in the fights. Planetside 2 has this, and its not uncommon for it to turn into a giant rolling blob cruising along because people can't react to it in time. Lots of deaths that way, too, which is ok in a game with low value individual lives quick re-spawns, but we have a game with high value individual lives and no respawn (yet).

you mean that clan mech that doesn't get here for a while? yeah they totally need hearts to give us that.

i'd much rather this be in 3025 so all the clan kiddies could go take a leak in the breeze. clan mechs are boring, uninspired munchkin machines.
