Working on my Ravens right now, and I notice that the 3 Raven chassis each have different play styles that complement them.

Raven-2x: Sniper and skirmisher. I like to give the incoming enemy a few shots with the LL before they come into brawling range, and then I move in and out and around the furball looking for holes in armor.

Raven-4x: Hit and run. The JJs give this chassis the one advantage that it has over the otherwise superior 2x and 3L, mobility. Get in, take some shots, and get out. Also, this chassis is the basis for the AC20 raven that certain website-based griefer groups have made famous.

Raven-3L: Spotter and light-hunter. With ECM, BAP, TAG and the adv. sensor module, you can detect the enemy LONG before they detect you. 2 MPL and 2 SSRM2 make it particularly deadly against lights, however it should be noted that this E-War powerhouse can fill any of the roles of the aforementioned Raven chassis' (and the roles of lots of other mech chassis too).

So, in conclusion I would say that I have no "definitive" playstyle, it's all dependent on the relative strengths and weaknesses of the different chassis and variants.

Hello.
I play as a medium in a cicada 2C run at 149 with 3 mlaser. Im not a scoot i run in the opposite direction than my team and start running from cower to cower till im behind the enemy line and wait till the show begins and everyone starts shooting then i run to the farest mech what none can see use it as a shild and taking out the leg armor with none alfa :( if i get ignored i alfa again if its turning i run to the next mech alfa then run front of him a half circle next mech till everyone watches  and start useing the enemy mechs as a shild usualy 40 % of they hits lands on the team member 5% on me  oh and i i LOVE LRM usually its an easy way to deliver a massive damage to an atlas so they either TK or i can finish him off and disappear or run to my team. the reason why i die is bechause im to greedy and cant let go my pray.
but now i started to hunt cicadas and commandos its really nice lots of adrenalin. ravens and spiders are to slim its a nightmare to kill them with lasers

I found ECM ineffective as its make NO DIFFERENCE on a light at all ! ! ! ! ! its just good for my team i just lose 1.5 ton firepower and the enemy LRMs. thats why i switched from the 3M. Be brave and try it. just take out those ecm and u will see it dont make to much of a difference if u have it or not. u will get use to it. And start useing those enemy LRMs they are fun

before that i played with a dragon N1 brawler running 90+ srms and lbx first i sneek up weary close to enemy lines alone kamikaze tipe running in enemy lines between 3 mech alfa strike everyone i can and maneuver out from the situation then hide switch to my map and watch what my team doing and repeat. i either get killed immediately or get a solid 3-4 kills. its nice but not to exciting.

I have a naturaly Defencive playstyle with a Sniper like attack style. I jump into the fray if my team is falling apart. My favorite weapon is the PPC. I like to have a Mech that can run atleast 60 KPH. Most of my favorite Mechs are Heavy.

With all of this. The Catapult-K2 with two ERPPCs and two PPCs works perfectly for me.

My playstyle of course depends on my mech. I prefer them all fast though meaning I will put in the biggest XL Engine possible to have the speed advantage over similar mchassis and anything that's heavier.

My favorite mech though is my Cicada 3M. In this I usually scout ahead reporting the enemies movements. Then I try to circle around them to pick off and stall the assaults from behind with hit and run attacks, so that the Assaults of my own team can pick apart their Mediums and Heavies less harmed.

My other mechs currently are a Dragon 1C and a Cataphract 2X in those I'm more of a striker. I usually hang back a bit with the team's assaults and support the brawlers from medium distances with Large Lasers and LRMS allways lloking for an enemy that needs a killing blow to move in on it and finish them off.

Depends on the Mech I am using. I have 41 different mechs now, so I can choose based on either team needs or just what I feel like playing.

Dragon/Centurion for skirmish, hit and fade maneuvers.
Ravn/Jenner/Commando for scouting, capping (for distraction, I hate capers to win), and taking out enemy scouts
LRM (not so much anymore-its boring)
Sniping with Gause (dont like PPC for some reason-personal choice)
Short range Atla/stalker with AC and SRMS.
Splatcat for just plain fun and damage

Favorite mech right now is the murromets with 3-UAC5 and 3Mlas. Its a great skirmisher and hit/run mech.
also good for mid range sniping, and the UAC is fantastic in the DPS category.

Depends on the chassis.

I've been playing long enough that my "style" is situational.

Pugging I generally prefer a ranged or sniper build simply because brawler builds really only work when there's a brawl. 1 'Mech getting pounded by 4 other isn't a brawl. It's a Shawshank shower scene.
In this 'Mech I'll run either PPCs, LRMs, GR or AC10 + LLAS.

Running Ravens/Commandos I'll stick to killing lights either offensively or defensively, then move on to jamming up LRM boats and finally harassing whatever is left.

Jenner is for killing lights defensively and harassing/killing the heavier 'Mechs that are less mobile.

About the only "brawler" 'Mech I run is either a Cat C1 with either LPLAS, MLAS and SRM6s, or a variation that removes the LPLAS for PPCs/ERPPCs and adds MPLAS.
Atlas with 4 MPLAS, 2 SRM6As and AC20.

I like to remain flexible. However close range brawls is what most battles de-evolve into. So, I've adapted. :P
