For those of you who skimp on back armor and rely on heavy front armor, you might want to reconsider shifting some armor to the back.

The fix for the 'back internals' bug was stated as 90% for today's patch.

We dont know for sure if it made it, but if it did you will see a LOT of QQ about this. 'the stealth buffed weapons!!!' or 'armor nerf?!?!?' or something like that.

Dont be surprised if back shots start being a real problem. Shift some armor now, and adjust your play to be that much more careful of back shots. Especially you assaults with lots of internals. I for one will be trying extra hard to take advantage of the fix,

So...essentially you just said you made a bait post saying "I told you so" in advance.

Nah.
If you get in behind me, it doesn't really matter if my armor's 14 or 40.

If I premptivly whine do I get to bypass the preemptive whine shield?

On a serious note a wasn't even aware there was a bug but if it means I can do more damage on one of my sneaky hunchback or centurion runs then all the better for me!

Wanna make this thread useful and actually describe the bug and what the change will be when it is fixed?

Well I wanted to warn people too. It is a big change and getting the word out early will help mitigate the issues. I have not seen many posts on this, and I dont think people really comprehend the impact this will have on play, especially for light vs assault mechs. Honestly I dont even think I really know (I very well might be wrong on the impact although I doubt it). But Im aware of it and now hopefully others are as well.

And when the whining starts I can point to those post for cogent, reasonable advice. Which will hopefully shut them up.

It is in redshift's post stickied at the top of the forum. It was posted a couple of weeks ago, and the post says 90% chance the fix will go in today.

Pretty much every mech has too much back armor. One of the secrets of mech building is to reduce it.

If I interpreted the Dzzzzz's statements on this... it should actually make many back shots less dangerous (at least from lasers). SRMs to the back will be worse, but as many kills were with lasers... I think this will lead to more survivability rather than less.

I would argue with you on that. With the bug in question, mechs were lasting WAY longer than they should have since the interals were not getting stripped properly. That means you had roughly 50% more armor in your back before the section blew out.

It also matters what kind of config you run. If you are a scout, back armor is as important as front since you often be weaving in and out of groups and might get hit in the back.

I'll give you the scout armor. I think I run with default or close to it on lights, since you do spend a lot of time running away from stuff.

For every other mech though, whatever the system is right now, there's too much back and too little front. It might change today. This is probably the biggest change in terms of actual robot mechanics so it'll be interesting for sure.

I read that as well, but I assume by 'explosive' weapons he meant missiles AND ballistics and PPC's (maybe). I figure that accounts for 2/3 of weapons, which means overall damage might go up.

This might also be the reaosn the changes to weapon damage/heat were delayed form December until now.

It's OK, I pilot a Dragon.

People always hit my front CT no matter what angle they shoot me from.

Hopefully they fix the "Limit reached" bug then.

My one stalker can't get above 14 back armor on it's torso's because it says "LIMIT REACHED"

with nothing on the mech at all (No DHS, endo, or FF) and the armor at 14/72 with over 100 open points of armor i stripped from across the mech

I find this to be exceedingly f***ing stupid
