I do mechanical design for a living, if the things I design fail there is a high probability that people might die...... who the F came up with the start, stop, override sequence we have now?

System seems pretty simple to me.
If you're off, hitting P starts the power-up sequence.
If you're on hitting P starts the power-off sequence.
If you're about to auto-shutdown from overheat pressing O turns off the auto-shutdown.

So you want people to die whenever their override sequence bugs out?
