Replies in order-

SIXSIX, I'm fairly certain it was a 4man on the other team (can't guarantee because randoms can be organized) but it matters little, I've organized randoms well enough to beat 4mans AND 8mans through better maneuvering when the randoms listen.

Team Leader, Yes, I want fourmans to remain in there. I don't want any size group to have to queue up and hope an equal size group shows up, or have the MM do oddgroup math on top of ELO. I'm not irritated with the fourman on the other side whatsoever.. I'm irritated at the illiterate randoms I got stuck with. (And btw: I'm very good, and I know it, and I'm proud of it.)

Eldan- lol, funny point. This is more of "You see all those people complaining about groups beating them? Actually, it's not the groups winning, it's them losing." response to the group criers.

Viper- I'd also like them to add a freaking siren to some people's cockpits.

Ortho- I'm in a PPC/Medlaser K2, I'm not taking one of my 4 precious energy HPs to put a tag on.. not when communication should do the trick.

Saga- that squad is annoying even if you ARE in a 4man.. lol

Volume- There is no solution, the only point this post had was to never remove groups from randoms. (and hoping that ELO works) And yeah.. I would hope that at least ONE in 7 team mates would know what 3line is. (Hmm.. the only thing on the map that has a 3 in it, is this line of 3s D3, E3, F3, ....) The answer is, don't ever remove groups.

thegimp- groups need to remain for smaller groups period. A completely group + group queue would be nightmarish compared to what we have no. Between the MM trying to add up odd groups to 8/12 2+3+3 or 2+2+2+2 vs 3+5 .. etc.. and the unfairness of four groups of 2 versus a group of 5 and a group of 3.. (four groups of 2 might as well be a pug group)

Chav- What?

Fyrerock- it doesn't stay up long, that's why I typed it twice.. and the second time in a giant group of caps with arrows.. with the new font against the caustic background, that should've been a beacon. (And they never engaged in a fight...)

Vassago- I warboss very very well. (see answer to SIXSIXSIX) Organizing people only works when they can read though.

or you could write meaningful messages that they will understand. 3 line could mean you're scouting the three line, you've seen 3 in a line, they've run along the 3 line, you want to stay in a line of 3 etc. Yes, in group chat 3 line means what you thought.... but to someone that doesn't already know that repeating a meaningless message is no use,

Sure enough, two ECM atlases (which one can surmise; are not alone)
I type into chat "3 line"

I've see this a few times. The problem is your message doesn't mean anything if they can't see what you are seeing. Does it mean you yourself are proposing to go solo down the 3 line? Does it mean you already are going down the 3 line? Does it mean that you want everyone else to go down the three line with you? Does it mean that you are going to check the 3 line and report back? Does it mean there is a lone Commando on the three line or the entire opposing team?

If you had typed "2 Atlases closing G3 - help!" then you might have got more of a response.

Basically, this game has built-in comms that are completely rubbish and lead to this sort of thing all the time.

EDIT - Von beat me to it.

One could surmise that someone calling out a place and firing PPCs in that direction (which are loud) that he's probably talking about an enemy location.

Don't worry about it. ELO should mean if you're competent you should be playing with other competent players, soon.

Only wanted to play about 2-3 games before hitting the hay.
Caustic valley Assault- I'm in a K2.

Standard Assault pubbing strategy.. go up to the calderra and wait until you see what they're doing.
After not seeing them come up to the other side of the calderra I went and checked the 3 line to see if I could see anything.
Sure enough, two ECM atlases (which one can surmise; are not alone)
I type into chat "3 line"

After a few seconds, and praying it was just not lending itself to the obvious:
"THRREEEEEEE LINEEEEEEE>>>>>>>>>>"

Not ONE turn around.. they proceed to the other side of the calderra and start congregating around E5-E6.. I assume they're all fighting a mech (I hope.. for at least one shred of.. hope)

So I do make a lame attempt to run back to cap and hope to buy a little time until they learn to read or look at a map.. either/or..

Apparently it was at least 4 mechs on the base because they capped very very quickly.
------------------------------------

If they ever enforce no groups of any kind in random games- they will lose anyone who (like me) can't stand losing a match because they're the only one in the match with literacy and sense.

Losing to a group because your team just wasn't as organized, I can handle.. losing to a group because your team can't read, look at a map, or figure out something is wrong because you haven't seen the enemy team yet is just ludicrous.

(8mans should stay against 8mans, but don't ever remove 4mans from random games.)
------------------------------------

I hope ELO works.

What the OP described is one of my main gripes with ECM. It blocks enemies from being spotted. So, when you're in a PUG game full of tards, that big red box is sometimes the only thing they will respond to. You can type all you want. Dammit, PGI, remove stealth from ECM. /rant

sounds like;

a they thought u were bossy telling them where they should go and went other way to spite you (idiots)

b they were ADD relying on shiny icons that they failed to see due to ECM (idiots)

c they failed to find/contact enemy despite forward location and/or failed to realise where enemy was likely to be from *ahem*"space-time elimination" (idiots)

d they were a sync premade and guffawed at the stupid pug in his cheese gaussapult (idiots)

I sympathize.

After the games I had last night, it took everything I had not to pop onto the forums and post a QQ/whine/moan thread titled "Puggers will kill MWO!"

I'm sick of the rush-die-repeat crowd.
I'm sick of the WoW mentality of "I played 5000 matches I should get an achievement".
I miss the days where what you got for a win, was a WIN (not a sticker/gold star).
I miss the organized ladders/leagues where you dropped against people that you recognized from combat, and not the MW forums (because we FOUGHT each other, not complained on the internet) and you had respect for players that were better than you (or at least almost as good). Where your group/clan/unit leader would tell you "We're fighting against Clan such and such on Thursday night at 8pm EST" and you'd get excited because those guys always put up a good fight. (For me it was either Ahriman Corps in MWL, or Clan Star Adder in NBT. Vulkanis was a damned good commander and I've player with/against Twister since I joined Clan Ghost Bear in NBT2 playing Mercs).

I'm not sure if I'm just seeing the old gaming days with rose glasses of nostalgia, or if the internet was simply a better place then since most of us on it were used to actually seeing real-life people and were still unfamiliar with the online douchbag you could be without repercussions that seems to be popular now.

We need a "rage induced rantings" section on these forums.

Mike will be along to send this thread there momentarily, I'm sure.

After ELO is introduced you'll be matched with players with similiar skills. Currently you may get a group in your team, or you can get 7 newbies in trial mechs.

You can't judge the whole situation from one bad game. I've had many great team games with complete random guys.

I think this is a common misconception. I believe all Elo will do is ensure there is another mech of your class with a pilot of your skill level against you. Not putting people of the same skill level with you on your team. Your team will be mixed with all skill levels, and you will be against a group of pilots with the same class mechs and skill levels.

It will try to match tow teams with the same average ELO against eachother.
